The grey vote is important, but young people are more political than ever. 15 years ago most people in their teens and 20s wouldn't have even been registered to vote, now they vote for SF en masse. Which considering how staggeringly complicated it is to even get yourself added to the electoral register these days is a statement in itself.

FF know they are finished as a major party, at this stage you would expect MM himself to lose his own seat he has been so shockingly inept, it's probably at the stage where his own wife, his own twin brother, his own kids wouldn't vote for him. Their best hope is to get into coalition with SF next time around.

FG will never in a million years go into coalition with SF- they know their best hope is to let FF and SF go at it next time around and hope they make an absolute hames of things.

It broke my heart to finally realise that we truly are a little pathetic loser country.

The insanity of vaccine passports for life-saving organ transplants is just the worst (so far) in a long list of examples of extreme over-reach from a loser government. What's next?

People don't generally give a sh1t though and that's worse. I can't even broach the subject with most of my family and dearest friends anymore for fear of them just dismissing my observations as the paranoid rantings of a conspiracy theorist.

I've given up. Time to sit back and watch the ride collapse from the sidelines. I won't even mourn the loss of irish society now because most of the population have already decided that it wasn't worth preserving or protecting.

Yep the roadmap will be ripped up and a new harsher one created

None of this 'personal responsibility' stuff esp with this new variant here. Don't be minding those lads in the UK because they got it wrong and NPHET no best

In France you cannot go into a supermarket to buy food unless you are vaxed or pay for a test to do so. Just think about it, some people think that is fine.

Yes, sadly, I agree with this.

My own young relatives are leaving and I know its for the best.

it's easier to sit at home and watch love island and eat pizzas all winter than it is to get off your arse and actually live a life!

It might be easier if you have a mental illness but anyone with a healthy mindset wouldn't find that easier at all. I've come close to putting my foot through the TV, it can **** off at this stage.

I keep asking, under what circumstances do you believe that the NPHET Government will lift all restrictions?

Unless there is a major change in tune, I dont see any circumstance where they will say No restrictions, no "guidelines", go out there and be normal.

Their public speaker Micheal Martin has kite flown their intentions for Spring but we all know this won't be true. We'll get a winter explosion of cases, there's not a chance NPHET will allow us to be free again in March/April.

People are forgetting, this a brand spanking new virus. Nobody knows how long it will be floating around. It could be floating around for decades under new guises.

Tony is in his early 50s apparently, had to Google that. Maybe he'll retire in 15 years time.

'Indeed, Labour, the SDs and SF were all very vocal about the need for more draconian measures.'

Sinn Fein is usually rendered into English as 'Ourselves Alone' but I suggest a new translation 'We Self-Isolated'

I'm not entirely joking when I suggest....Australia is now where it's at,as the Irish version of civil disobedience appears to have evaporated with the Water Meter Protests, the cause of which,in true Irish style has'nt gone away y'know 🤫

Those Melbourne protest numbers are significant all the same ?

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

What IS of note about that Beaumont Hospital email, and it's far reaching implications for Society in general is how low key the Media reaction was.

Government sponsored Journalism now appears to be the ONLY Journalistic Course on the curriculum in Ireland. 😕

We're doomed if we go into another full lockdown

Non essential international will be one of the first things on the chopping block. Can't be having people going away to matches/concerts

Who's saying we're going into another full lockdown? Or are you trying to do an RTE-type scare job on us?

I think if the bars or even gyms etc close again, this would be an admission of failure by the gobdaws in government. They can pull out as many Plus 1 and 2 variants out of the bag all they like because unless the bodies are piling up and proven to have died from covid, that will be it for me anyway.

I spoke to a guy in Pfizer today and apparently the death of the young football player affected the shares and there's a few itchy arses sweating over the potential for a second or 3rd death of a young person who otherwise need not have taken the vaccine on a risk to benefit basis. If I was his parents I'd be looking for my Ryan Turbidy first late late show interview. I suppose unless it suit the narrative, the weak chinned chicken hawk wouldn't have you on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,857 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

Stop scaring people, nothings going to close! And the vaccine probably didn't cause that young man to die

enough of the alarmist virtue signaling, trying to get me ban from the thread, what a ridiculous remark. Who's scared? you? or are you speaking on your own behalf.

Where di I say things were closing? are you from the shallower end of the gene pool or something?

You're probably off home doing this type of stuff now are you?

Tony is out tweeting his concern 2 days in a row I see as well as Nolan this morning with scary Graphs and projections..

    We all know what's coming.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,443 ✭✭✭✭stephenjmcd

Whatever about the CMO he repeats himself almost daily so it's lost any impact , but did you actually read Nolans tweets or did you just see a thread and think those graphs are scary because they aren't scary, they were actually quite informative and broke down cases by age range and vax status showing cases prodomently in unvaccinated, that's reassuing rather than scary to be perfectly honest. If anything it shows how we should be getting on with things

I doubt it/I hope not! They wouldn’t be able to justify another one with such a high number of vaccinations - we need to open up and learn to live with this virus. It’s now or never. If there’s another one I’ll definitely be considering emigrating. I’m all for having a freedom day like England - they’re getting on fine over there so I really don’t understand why we aren’t having a full reopening/social distancing removed.

Why do you continually work yourself up with made up situations ? Honestly that couldn't be good for someone

Its better to be negative and hope your wrong then been positive and then having these baxtards swopping in and dashing your hopes

Tony hadn’t tweeted since the 12th August and before that it was once a week. He has now put out a multi tweet 3 days in a row.
