There was no announcements when I was there and didn't see a single person wear a mask seated.

What was your experience when you were there or are you going by Twitter for information?

Who? I'm going to Manchester for a gig next week?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,668 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

I know most people are ignoring wearing masks which is great because it's pure theatre in a massively socially distanced outdoor stadium. When I was there there were numerous announcements about masks and up on the big screen too. I'll take your word for it that they've stopped doing that.

That breaks the internet. I thought everyone knew that.

Was just giving my personal experience on the day. I agree no need for masks while seated outdoors and can't wait till the day we are not even discussing this.

Yeah but has fans travelling. Yet UEFA won't allow the same thing for club competitions going on now or the September International games. Logic is missing

Excellent, I'm happy to see it, and I imagine UK based groups are fine, but can you imagine a group flying their whole setup over from the the states, not being able to play certain countries because of restrictions, only playing in a country where the venue might not be able to open due to the pingdemic?

    I can't.

The issue is,when we actually do the Forward Planning, the results and recommendations remain largely ignored....Take the comprehensive 2009 HSE report into Adult Critical Care provision...

Some highly pertinent points from that 2009 document ...

    # There are 289 funded, open, critical care beds in Ireland

    # In June 2008 278 patients were refused admission to critical care

    RECOMMENDATIONS

R3 The number of critical care beds should be increased by 45% from 289 to 418 beds.

This will need to increase sequentially to 579 over the period 2010 to 2020.

11 years on Irelands ICU provision at the beginning of the Pandemic was hovering around the 225....

From that Jan 2021 article one figure jumps out..

According to the HSE there are 287 fully-staffed public ICU beds.

Even now with a projected €22 Billion plus budget going forward,we are not even close to that 2009 recommendation.

Forget Covid....the single greatest threat to Public Health in Ireland is the mismanagement of the HSE.

How? It hasn't happened yet. It'll take a lot more than anything that has happened so far for me to even feel remotely embarrassed.

If you think our government is the only one dithering about changes:

I'm going (if it happens) to a gig in Utrecht (Netherlands) in a bit over three weeks. The Dutch Government have promised to outline what capacity gigs can have after September 1st "soon", but they've been saying that for a month. Events a few weeks before are being limited to 750 people under August regs; but this is a 30,000 capacity event.

I've just rebooked my hotel for it, as the super-duper expensive one I booked a while ago on a cancellable rate is now being undercut by a significant amount - presumably due to other cancellations. I'll keep checking to see if I can cut it again, but always on a cancellable rate.

I guess you missed the memo. Apparently we should all be embarrassed cos everyone is laughing at the cowardly bed-wetters who are apparently hiding under their beds. So maybe floor-wetters as well. Hard to keep up.

Ha, me too. Honestly can't see it happening, going from 750-35k in 3 days, plus the fact they've the Friday night event too. I hope they dont go down the route like Luminosity of making people decide on which stage they want and having to stay there. Best guess is we'll be there in February instead. I just wish they'd make a decision, its killed the usual buzz of coming up to it.

    Incorrect, see below

    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/faq.html

If I have already had COVID-19 and have recovered do I still need to get vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine?

Yes, you should be vaccinated regardless of whether you already had COVID-19. That’s because experts do not yet know how long you are protected from getting sick again after recovering from COVID-19. Even if you have already recovered from COVID-19, it is possible—although rare—that you could be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 again. Studies have shown that vaccination provides a strong boost in protection in people who have recovered from COVID-19. Learn more about why getting vaccinated is a safer way to build protection than getting infected.

If you were treated for COVID-19 with monoclonal antibodies or convalescent plasma, you should wait 90 days before getting a COVID-19 vaccine. Talk to your doctor if you are unsure what treatments you received or if you have more questions about getting a COVID-19 vaccine.

If you or your child has a history of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in adults or children (MIS-A or MIS-C), consider delaying vaccination until you or your child have recovered from being sick and for 90 days after the date of diagnosis of MIS-A or MIS-C. Learn more about the clinical considerations people with a history of multisystem MIS-C or MIS-A.

Experts are still learning more about how long vaccines protect against COVID-19. CDC will keep the public informed as new evidence becomes available.

    And here it is.

No doubt will result in out of court settlements with no blame or sanction on the decision makers.

Funny that - they also dont know how long vaccine induced immunity lasts. Could be the case that vaccine immunity is even shorter than the natural from exposure. Vaccine immunity certainly seems to be dropping off anyways going by the Israeli findings.

What happened in the nursing homes was an utter disgrace and yet 18 months later people still call those responsible "the experts".

Pure guesswork and supposition. They don't know how long the vaccine protects you for and they don't know how long you are protected having previously had Covid. I could be infected again, although it's rare. Those vaccinated have more chance of becoming infected. I'll take my chances.
