Its an awful shame these protests attract such a fringe element. There are plenty of normal folk who would like to show their opposition to the on going restrictions without being labelled an anti vaxxer or far right protester.

Clearly all crazed, rightwing, antivaxers. 🙄

Look at what's happening in France today and last night, look at Italy and Greece. Look at Eastern Europe and the fact that if politicians tried to do what they're doing here, they'd be dragged from their homes and lynched on the streets.

Now look at who want these restrictions. EU bureaucrats, The German chancellor, The Irish Government, an unelected medical committee that seem to have supreme power on the state, the Irish media.

Now tell me, do you think you'll be on the right side of history?

Just watching virgin media news, feature on this farcical reopening hospitality plan, the intrepid reporter walked through the process (presuming viewer's are stupid) but my god its going to be debacle. I noticed (I could be wrong) but this covid cert checker app appears to only show the cert on a mobile phone/device shown by customer is valid? It showed no personal details (obviously GDPR issue) if this is the case it would seem someone not Vacinated could just borrow a mates phone? Of course anyone even bothered doing this needs to look in the mirror.

No wonder over a quarter of hospitality businesses not bothering opening on Monday, just astonishing it's taken weeks and alledged numerous experts to come up with this nonsensical plan.

You wouldn't have to borrow a phone, you'd just need a screenshot of the QR Code.

Once scanned the person's name appears, the type of cert (vaccination or positive test) and the date of the vaccine/positive test.

That's what I understood, however (and perhaps I missed it), all that showed on the demo was Valid. I stand humbly corrected if infact the scanner will match up cert with a name

    You need photo id too

Understood, my impression on looking at the report was when QR code scanned from a mobile device all that showed was being valid, no matching personal info was evident and therefore photo ID would be pointless, Ive since been corrected it seems as personal identifying info will come up along with status when scanned :)

If you have a cert, the website is live, so you can scan it and see for yourself.

And the antivaxxers will be patting themselves on the back at their thousands-strong turnout today, as will the religious types, anti-maskers, and anti-science people..

Not correct, You may be asked to show photo id,not going to happen unless the pub/restaurant are looking for excuse to refuse entry.

Aussies have really gone off the deep end. I saw some twitter post yesterday from a resident in Sydney , some woman shaming people for being outside in a park as they were not exercising , just sitting on a bench or sunbathing, and as such had no business being there. Her comment implied these kind of people were the reason the lockdown had not brought cases right down to zero yet, it had thousands and thousands of likes from Australians echoing her views. Australia is right now experiencing what europe was like in April 2020 lol

My reading is "Customers MAY" be asked for ID but I agree with your point, there's so many holes in this plan. If ID is not mandatory then how can anything be verified

GAA going very well with the way there organising stuff in the stadiums with crowds. Signage, a lot of hand sanitisers well spread out pods and masks anytime you move

Lets hope this 500 nonsense never returns.

These events show how well things are been run and how compliant people are

Or , restaurants could try to provide an actual attractive wage to employees that might encourage them to do that rather than use government assistance

Was there really 25,000? That’s a huge turnout. Speakers can hold extreme views agreed, but that aside, it’s a positive sign that so many chose to spend a beautiful weekend day protesting their dissatisfaction.

Did you mean to say anti-masturbation? Have to admit, that’s a new one to me if so. Had I been free to attend I would have left during an anti-masturbation speech too, nevertheless it would have been worth attending part of the march to add to the numbers. Will make the next one in all likelihood, despite being apathetically inclined for many years.

Whilst wages are and have been a serious issue in this industry those using that Tired PUP argument really need to check facts. The RAI absurdly claim 180k staff looking forward to returning, then throw in the shortage of staff S**** blaming amongst other things PUP, as of last Monday 202k are still in receipt of this payment, the DEASP own sector breakdown states approx 40k are tied to hospitality but this includes accommodation and other areas within hospitality, it's simply false to suggest 180k out of 202k receiving PUP are from hospitality sector. Besides on numerous occasions, the DEASP has stated quite catagorically there is little employer reporting of anyone refusing to return to work and even less actual proof of such behaviour.

On the bright side, these childish narcissists moaning about masks and vaccines are making themselves known in their communities. With the help of mass vaccination, as humanity has done successfully on multiple occasions, there will be an end to this but afterwards, we'll remember those idiots who fell for nonsense on facebook and made things harder for everyone.

Or, employees can have a bit of self respect and go earn a living as opposed to cheating tax payers.
