I am not a massive Smashing Pumpkins fan, but Siamese Dream was solid from start to finish.

Lots of people have already suggested Rumours by Fleetwood Mac and Pet Sounds (Beach Boys) and I agree with that.

Not sure if Weezer's Blue Album was mentioned, but there you go. I stand by that one.

I suggested 76:14 by Global Communication earlier in the thread, but I would like that stricken from the record. The album is nearly perfect, but I listened to it again and and 0:54 is effectively an interlude and not good as a standalone track.

Closing Time by Tom Waits is not in my top 10 albums by Tom Waits. But I don't think it has a bad track.

I was listening to the Blue Album during the week for the first time in an age. I might have to concur with that sentiment.

I'm also gonna stick my head up above the parapet here and suggest a live album: Alive 2007. Having had the pleasure of being at that Bercy gig in July 2007, it could be surmised that I am being biased from a nostalgic pov, but merely "okay" songs from the likes of Human After All were elevated to incredible anthems during that tour/show.

After hundreds of listens over the last decade, I can't help but place it in this exalted "perfect" album strata.

Though, given my only other entry onto this thread was "OK Cowboy" by Vitalic, this should be no real surprise.

At least a couple of Nick Cave albums could mention here, but my choice would be And No More Shall We Part which i think not only hasnt a single bad track on it, but contains several that are up there with his finest work. Lots disagree with me, but i regard it as his all time classic record.

The Hurting by Tears for Fears is pretty solid, the whole way through. shame their later albums were nowhere near as good.

I would be a bit different on that one. I like some of The Hurting but not all of it.

On the other hand, I liked every track on Tears for Fears' second album Songs From the Big Chair!

Discovery by Daft Punk would be the one that springs to mind right now.

I've seen Homework mentioned but I find it to be too long in parts and quite raw as well. Discovery is a polished effort and flows seemlessly.

Likewise - I think Songs From The Big Chair and The Seeds Of Love (both eight track albums) are pretty flawless. The Hurting is very good but stops short of being a 10/10 album.

The Super Deluxe Editions of all are pretty great

I was listening to Been There, Seen That, Done That by Something Happens! for the first time in a number of years. I liked every single track without exception.

I cannot recommend Carrie & Lowell by Sufjan Stevens enough.

It is (in my opinion) the greatest album of the last 10 years

Been listening to Audioslave's self titled debut album, and it's an absolute cracker of an album.

The follow up, Out of Exile was nowhere near as good as it... in fact I'd even say its a bad album...

Stuck on some old school Smashing Pumpkins today to get the taste of their recent synth pop efforts out of my mouth, and agree with D9Male on the previous page - Siamese Dream is definitely up there in my list of albums without a poor track. Soma in particular is a masterpiece. On a sidenote, I spent years thinking James Iha did the guitar solo on that song until I saw them playing it live and realised just how talented a guitarist Billy Corgan is, most rock frontmen with a guitar just play rhythm.

Chroma by RSAG .....released during 1st lockdown. Every song is unreal. Put on the headphones and take a walk. It took 10 years for this Kilkenny musician to release a new album but my god was it worth the wait. But still they play Nathan Carter on the radio .......

I saw him play years ago and never knew he had an album out. I may check it out.

Yep it went under the radar a little in all the lockdown frenzy. It is my best album of 2020 by far. Have a listen and see what you think. The Spark is a brilliant track but every song gives you something different. Let me know what you think !

I didn't realise there was a box set. Reviews look good, I'll definitely be buying.

I played The Golden Age of Wireless by Thomas Dolby last night and realised this (for me) is another album without a single bad track.

I love that part of the album. I think it's fantastic.

Played Horslips Book of Invasions last night, lost none of its power after all these years. An absolute classic from first groove to last and so criminally underrated.

    Gonna add

Flaming lips : the soft bulletin

Don’t you mean East Side Story ? A fine album for sure, but not flawless. F Hole is not great for example.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,163 ✭✭✭chicorytip

East Side Story,of course!! 😊 Even it's weakest track is a good 'un.

I thought I'd posted here previously, but I can't see it.

Judas Priest's Painkiller is an absolute revelation for me. I've been listening to Black Sabbath for approaching 25 years and I only recently started listening to JP. They have some really mixed albums. Defenders of the Faith would make the cut for no bad song too, but Painkiller is just amazing. It came after a weak spot for the band but just absolutely kicks off from the first track and keeps going.

IMHO - Taste is a factor obviously but albums I will listen to without getting the itch to hit the skip button.

REM - Automatic for the People

    SP - Siamese Dream

    RHCP - Californication

    Coldplay - Parachutes

    The National - Boxer

    Radiohead - The Bends

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,076 ✭✭✭trashcan

Rattlesnakes - Lloyd Cole & The Commotions

    Steve McQueen - Prefab Sprout

Cake and I’ve Seen Everything -Trashcan Sinatras

The Stone Roses. Single greatest album ever. It's b-sides would top most great albums

    Stevie Wonder - Innervisions

  • Registered Users Posts: 410 ✭✭ofthelord

    Wilco - Sky Blue Sky

    Deftones - Around The Fur

    Smashing Pumpkins - Gish

    Bjork - Debut

Been listening to a lot of my records over the last few days of crap weather and these albums in my opinion are brilliant from start to finish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Listened to Morning Phase by Beck for the first time in a few years. As good as I remembered and I didn't want to skip any songs. It might be my favourite album of his.

    Some relatively 'recent' ones

Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace - Foo Fighters

    Phobia - Breaking Benjamin

Into the Wild - Eddie Vedder

Just had some notion to listen to Violent Femmes start to finish for the first time in over 30 years.

I don't think there is a bad track on it.

IMO Purple more than Core for me as a album without a bad track.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,280 ✭✭✭Mike Litoris

    Nick Drake - Pink Moon

Iron Maiden - Seventh son of a Seventh Son

Was going to post a similar thread topic as we had this discussion in the boozer the other night, when someone asked each person at the table to name 10 records where each track was a "banger". And it wasn't as easy as you'd imagine. In any case, I managed to narrow it down to the below, after some time changing my mind and switching out numerous albums.

    Anyway...in no particular order...

Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables

    Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

    Depeche Mode - Violator

The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead

    Nirvana - Nevermind

    Carcass - Symphonies of Sickness

    My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

    Pixies - Surfer Rosa

    Slayer - Reign in Blood

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,171 ✭✭✭Declan A Walsh

I have four of those albums somewhere in my collection, but the only one I can definitely say that I like all the tracks is Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. Violator by Depeche Mode comes very close - still can't make up my mind about Sweetest Perfection!

Yeah, Dark Side of the Moon is definitely Pink Floyd's greatest record for me. But, TBH, I was never really a fan of theirs. I like the first half of The Wall, but over all it's a pretentious load of twaddle with very mediocre tracks. But Dark Side is one of those albums that I can put on and just lie down and listen to all the way through.

I suppose that was the essential criteria for my top ten. Each of those albums I can just put on Side A, track 1 and go right to the end. Of course there are numerous others too, so that list is probably subject to a lot of changes. 😄

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,960 ✭✭✭NewbridgeIR

Great list although IMHO The Queen Is Dead dips a bit with Never Had No One Ever and Vicar In A Tutu. I prefer Isn't Anything to Loveless but both are great.

    More for me

    Fleetwood Mac - Tusk

Prince - Sign Of The Times

Dexys Midnight Runners - Don't Stand Me Down

The Style Council - Our Favourite Shop

ABC - The Lexicon Of Love

    Japan - Tin Drum

Serge Gainsbourg - L'Histoire De Melody Nelson

    Primal Scream - Screamadelica

    Pet Shop Boys - Behaviour

    U2 - Achtung Baby

    Pixies - Bossanova

    The LA's - The LA's

Happy Mondays - Pills, Thrills & Bellyaches
