No not taking an injection doesn't mean they are happy to continue with 'public health' restrictions. Some people can't take it and some won't, that is a fact in light of which fact I say creating a two-tier society is a bad road to go down.

I don't know. There are seemingly many people in this country who are prepared to make evil choices and many more whose inclination is 'to go with the flow' whatever that is.

The future doesn't look rosy from here.

I understand it to be roughly 2000 going in per week and 1950 coming out. So roughly beds occupied are going up 50 / week in the UK. Obviously some deaths to take account of unfortunately.

Another "pilot event" being held in Killarney tonight. Details below

The INEC can hold up to 4,500 people. The 200 tickets for tonight's show were sold in pods of six and had conditions attached.

Each pod was allocated a specific, staggered arrival time, and a pre-allocated table.

Facemasks have to be worn by people arriving and leaving the venue.

All concert-goers also have to provide their contact tracing details for research purposes, as well as having the Health Service Executive Covid app installed and activated on their smartphones.

Anyone who is showing Covid-19 symptoms has been asked to stay away from the event

The capacity is going to be a massive 4%. What are we going to learn from this exactly?

Minister of State Jack Chambers said the numbers attending will be scaled up further over the coming months.

Honestly I nearly choked laughing at the idea of 200 people being used as a pilot event. And then I thought about it...and the laughing stopped pretty quick.

If other countries had any great interest in what was happening here then it would be huge embarrassment. They don’t really, but we can undoubtedly be embarrassed ourselves considering our former reasonably punching-above-weight position in EU.

As regards pilot events - it all seems a bit staged to tally with projected easing dates. We could have had these pilot events weeks ago, and started scaling up long before now. Plenty of data available from other countries (which were perfectly acceptable for vaccination and testing preparations) - it’s a win-win argument to claim they are starting small, and will logically scale up, but the issue is they are starting too late and with zero regard to existing data re pilot events.

That's a rather strange assertion. I don't think anyone would or should be feeling embarrassed for defending the lockdown so far.

In saying that, i think it should be done now and 5th July reopening should go ahead. I think alot of what they've done so far has made sense and the public in general have been on their side but this could sway it alot.

You're welcome to feel as embarrassed as you like.

For most of us, worrying about what the neighbours might think doesn't really come into it. I certainly don't think it should shape our covid response and I'm quite happy that it hasn't.

Well, if you can't even bring yourself to criticize the farcical "pilot" events then I wouldn't expect any self awareness from you.

This is a joke...even if you still, somehow, have convinced yourself the restrictions are justified, the pilot events are an absolute joke.

I'm aware you're embarrassed. No idea what that has to do with restrictions to be honest.

Can't say I've given the pilot events much thought. Makes sense to me that they start small and increase over time but it's not something I'm going to get excited about either way. Vaccinations are what will allow events to return at scale.
