Sure it's a bigger attendance but social distancing still very much exists

    Capacity is what, 5k?

    What's with the fearmongering?

There's not even the slightest inkling of a new lockdown on the horizon.

The ground has already been cleared for another lockdown by both Martin and Varadkar saying there might be one in winter 2021-22.

They never walked back those statements or explained them and the vaccination scheldule for winter 2021 is the same as when they made those statements.

I've been beating this drum since last January because I understand that there is a political logic to the phenomenon of lockdowns.

The likes of yourself will be ridiculing people for expecting a lockdown right up until the second we're headed back into lockdown. Then you'll be blah-blahing about the danger of Zeta variant or whatever the rationale is.

Last summer after the first lockdown, people were ridiculed for saying that the lockdown wouldn't be a one-time event - something which I intuited as far back as April 2020.

3.5 in a venue that can hold 12-15 so between 25-30%

Did you see where Leo is talking about panicking, well don't panic just yet, what is he on about do you think?

Have you missed the media, the government, sir Tony and nphet ramping the delta variant all day.

    Are they not fearmongering?

From what I could see capacity for a single gig was 5k. Events such as Forbidden fruit get more in due to multiple stages, but for a single stage, sightlines reduce it to ca. 5k.

    Stand to be corrected

Jesus H Christ dancing on a pogo stick, just listening to the RTE news there, allready going on about delaying the July 19 data for opening up travel because of the "delta variant" ..

Is the delta variant resistant to vaccines or what ?

Why do they want this to go on and on and on indefinetely, of course there will be people on here defending it ..

At this stage I see no end to it , they will just keep adding new variants, in 10 years time they will be talking about the ZZZZZZXXX variant and we must "hold firm" ... "there are better days ahead" .... I wonder when the defenders of all this will say "enough is enough" ..

Got to love the cherry picking of when to look to the rest of EU. Where's the benchmarking against EU when it comes to antigen testing, international travel, mass gathering events (e.g. Euro 2020) and the general imposing and easing of restrictions? What a fraud.

In all honesty, can these people just stop.

Just to point out, there wasn't this time last year either, in fact, as late as October of last year, Leo Varadkar in his public spat with TH stated on National TV that we simply couldn't afford another level 5 lock down.....shortly afterward we went into a 7 and a half month lock down we are only just gradually being released from!!!

There will be a new variant of concern in Sept/Oct, numbers will increase...what remains to be seen is how our Government handles it...perhaps I missed when Senior Government officials categorically ruled out another lock down...but I don't think I did!

I don’t think there will be another lockdown, but I wouldn’t blame anyone for a second if they thought there might be another one this Winter

They are allready on the RTE news saying they will probably have to "extend" the restrictions on travel ... we all know what that means.

Here in England atleast, a Tory MP recently spoke about how he saw government plans for restrictions in Autumn and Winter. He didn't say exactly what these restrictions were and you could argue it's better to be prepared than not, but it's worrying and extremely frustrating to hear. Some might say "oh well social distancing and masks aren't that bad" but businesses can't survive with those and all we're doing is creating some weird society where we're afraid of winter. Patrick Vallance/Chris Witty have spoken about how society needs to learn how to live with covid, just like we do with the flu so I hope they stick to their word.

Scotland have just announced their pushing back their ending of restrictions until August. We're very much teetering on autumn by then. Wales are talking about restrictions continuing despite being far ahead in vaccinations of every other country in the UK aswell as Ireland. (They have 88% with 1 dose and 60% with 2 doses) They've had TWO covid deaths all month and I'm almost certain you're not even legally allowed to visit someone elses house there (open to correction).

Some accuse others of burying their heads in the sand when it comes to this Delta variant, but you could very well accuse those of sticking their head in the sand when it comes to another lockdown or a lockdown in all but name come Winter. Theres talk of "booster shots", will it be a case of "well, we need all the vulnerable to get a booster shot for XYZ variant first". You know for certain the media will be hammering the **** out of articles about hospitals being overwhelmed, whether thats with covid or flu, they don't care once they get their clicks.

I really really hope none of this happens and I try not to go too far over to the negative "this will never end" side but it's tough. Winter will be the real test to see whether this is all over or not.

When do people think the 1st variant that is vaccine resistant appear ?

My guess is around about the time we have 100% vaccinated, will be just in time for the sociopaths to hand down the new lockdown..

A bit like when Philip Nolan continued his "schools are perfectly safe" lie by claiming that just because cases started rising again after schools reopened, you couldn't equate correlation with causation.

This after they'd spend most of a year attributing blame based on nothing but spurious correlations. (Because without bothering to do proper contact tracing there was nothing else to go on).

But but but look at that country over there...

Are you afraid of looking at Irish data? It's beyond obvious what this is....

Our numbers are on the floor despite the amount of people moving about which has been gathering pace since last February despite the restrictions.
