IMO Higgins letter would be ok if he left out the Poet bit :) anyway I’m sure there’s a proper definition of a poet , should earn a living from it or something?

The definition of a poet is very simple, a poet is someone who writes poetry.

Earning a living doesn't come into it though as a published poet MDH may have made a few bob from his efforts.

He's no fool MDH, he's invested wisely in other areas, he knows poetry won't pay the bills for his bit of social champagne.

Absolutely correct he is no fool and nobody's fool.

Wise investment is a foundation for a happy old age.

You could have left out the tired old champagne jibe.

They sell it in Lidl nowadays, even pimply youths drink it in the back of limos going to their debs.:)

I’m not sure that’s right , maybe swap “write” with “published” and that’s a poet

No, you just have to write a poem and you're in, a fully fledged poet.

Your definition is a bit prosaic. :)

Jesus, listening to these entitled assholes, the poor young people whinging about being locked up for the last 15 months, how they complied and now should be allowed gather and socialise. No one's stopping them from meeting up and socialising but getting together and acting like idiots is another matter entirely. Wish someone would come on and tell them this.

Coming on and justifying violence and throwing bottles at the Gardai.

BOC let that go too easily.

We have ALL been locked up, but the 30-60 yr olds aren't out fighting.

    Scumbaggery can't be justified.

This sh1te about mixed messaging is either pure stupidity or just brazen excuses to justify acting like a twat. And then listening to the good old "self-reported data" that the ERSI rely on to keep us all updated on how good everyone is. I should have switched off, but I'm a glutton for (aural) punishment it seems.

Never would I have believed O'Connor with that big muckers head on him being into awful, generic Swedish written cheesy crap - 'from' Azerbaijan!

The issue is never the issue; the issue is always the revolution.

The Entryism process: 1) Demand access; 2) Demand accommodation; 3) Demand a seat at the table; 4) Demand to run the table; 5) Demand to run the institution; 6) Run the institution to produce more activists and policy until they run it into the ground.

    This is embarrassing.
A few minor disturbances in a non-descript shíthole of a side street is the main story in a country of 5 million when the media chattering classes' non-stop yacking about *that* street (thanks, Stefanie bloody Preissner & Tony Holohan) has given the dickheads via social media a reason to target it for lolz & putting it up to the 'pigz'.

Drink fueled punters lay waste to our city, now a no go area.

Gardai need to take a strong hand and clean them out.

Seems to be an organised cohort of trouble makers involved, it’s reported.

This could get out of control.

Pat just wants to get the head stuck into the bucket of porther.

Blame everything else toilets, bins, the guards, councils etc., but you dare not blame the small number of scrotes carrying out this gouger sh*te.

    now a no go area.
Hardly that. It is very popular. The streets were busy until the Guards came along and shut the businesses down.

Good luck to Sinead but hope she's not planning getting income on public speaking gigs or writing. Based on recent interviews, she gets a bit repetitive.

I’d never heard the term “bel canto” in my life until last weekend. I’ve now heard, at least, fifteen times more than I ever needed to.

“It is not blood that makes you Irish but a willingness to be part of the Irish nation” - Thomas Davis

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,729 ✭✭✭✭Furze99

Why does O'Connor persist with this theme? Does he think the average listener is really interested beyond the level of casual curiosity. He seems to be obsessed with these matters. Ah well, there's the off switch.

Yes, that was a bit over the top.
