Where do you check to see if you've won? Notifications?

If you create an account under Prize Bond Tracker, then a message on the site will tell you if any of the bonds you input have won. There is also a link to see the prize details.

Otherwise you can go to See Draw Results, open the map and go to your county. Put the prizes in bond number order, and you can see if you have any winners. It goes back for about 6 months.

On another note their website is a disaster. Wanted to buy more bonds so tried a 1k transaction which worked, then after that nothing. Even another 1k wouldnt work!

Would 2k be over your daily card limit maybe?

Would 2k be over your daily card limit maybe?

That's probably the issue. I've a similar issue with my bank and it's a pain to transfer. I purchase them daily but then I'm hit with a weekly limit on top of the daily one. And the bonds aren't issued instantly as it looks like I have to wait 7-10 working days.

Possibly. I was using a KBC debit card. I previously used a BOI card when I had an account with them and could buy in much larger amounts.

I'd say that's what the problem is. Probably best to contact kbc and check your limit.

Are they still posting out shares? I bought some a few days ago, and got an email about that purchase today.

    Sorry to derail the thread.

Would putting money into prize bonds for kids be better than putting it in the post office and getting little to no interest. It wouldn't be big money just birthday and Christmas presents etc?

Had my first win in 9 weeks today and my first "2nd generation" win since I invested €100k in May 2017. Total winnings in just over 4 years amount to €1,950 (all reinvested) and today's €50 was won on winnings that were reinvested in July 2017.

Why not! Child might win but won’t really lose.

50 for me today. First win since June 2020 on 46k in small batches.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10 Lottie125

Had first ever win in April :-) €50 have €23k invested in total. €22k of it invested in small batches of €2.5k (as it's my cards daily limit) in Nov 2020.

I see a lot of posts on this thread about people buying prize bonds in small lots because of daily card limits.

Does nobody have a cheque book any more? And if you don’t, is there not such a thing as a bank draft?

You can't use a cheque if you want to purchase on line. Same with a bank draft.

Fair enough. But you can purchase them at any Post Office.

Very true. That's how I purchased my first batch. However, after that, I wanted to purchase them from home albeit on the drip feed. The card limit is a pain but not the end of the world.

I guess it’s a question of which inconvenience bothers you most. The inconvenience of having to go to the Post Office to purchase the bonds (and possibly also to the bank to get a bank draft if you don’t have a cheque book) versus the inconvenience of having a load of small holdings instead of one large one.

Ah so you do get a separate notification? Good to know in case I make a typo when entering them into the checker (the actual bond itself has a space between the letters and numbers but I always enter them without the space).
