So you are suggesting its a big conspiracy and no prizes are given out in reality?

That would be one hell of a conspiracy! It would include all of us who have posted here about the various wins we have had over the years. Not to mention several State agencies, the company that runs the Prize Bond draws, etc. etc.

Even Donald Trump’s followers would have difficulty swallowing that one.

Wow. Even the brainless find their way into the prize bond threads.

Next it will be the vaccine killing all the workers to make the elite richer somehow by magic...

This is a raffle, every prize has a bond winner. The lotto is random numbers that might not have a winner.

    What do you think.??
Nobody seems to know anybody that has actually won a prize.
Do you get that.? Not exactly rocket science is it.?

For every 100 invested in lotto tickets, 50.00 is paid in prizes.
For every 100 invested in prize bonds, 00.30 is paid in prizes.

A lot more people buy lotto tickets than buy prize bonds. 1.4m per week play lotto.

This is why. Not exactly rocket science, as you say.

    Invested?
You get nothing of your initial "investment" back from a lottery ticket.

For every 100 'invested' in lotto tickets, 50.00 is paid in prizes - and your 100 is gone
For every 100 invested in prize bonds, 00.30 is paid in prizes - and you get your 100 back

Not exactly rocket science, as you say.

A bit early to say, there are sometimes posts up to a few days after the draw. I did a count post #7408 on page 494 of the number of winners reported here over a 6 month period.

In March and April this year there were 10 winners. April had 5 draws so an average of 2 per draw. I'm fairly certain that I came across a couple of draws with no winners reported, but my memory may be faulty.

Just noticed 50e in my bank account from last Friday, hadn't thought to check on the day. 4th win of the year and first since may 28. Pretty good run.

I counted May, we reported One win 7th and Three wins in each of 14th, 21st and 28th. Back in March, post #7216 page 482 the AVE million bonds won Zero prizes in a draw, and I think there were a couple of others in that count I did during the month.

I did a count of 10 million new bonds in the draw of 18 June AWM to AWV inclusive. They won 57 prizes, average 5.7, highest AWU 10, lowest AWM 2.

I also counted the number of wins by the AWA bonds in the 10 draws from 16 April to 18 June inclusive. They won 60 prizes, average 6, highest 16 April 10, lowest 07 May, 11 June and 18 June 3 each.

With one million bonds being worth €6.25 million, I think we are reporting here on combined holdings worth around €2 million. It would be no surprise if there are weeks when we get nothing.

LOL I think I badly worded my post.

Basically I was saying that the reason we don't hear about PB winners (as the person above had complained), is that there are far fewer PB prizes per euro spent, and a lot fewer PB entrants, than the lottery.

Of course I understand the difference :):):)

One more calculation based on 20 million bonds winning an average of 5.85 prizes per million in a single draw.

    5.85 x 52 x €50 = €15,210. Divided by 62.5 = €243.36, the expected return with average luck for €100K, rounds to €250, 5 prizes in a year.
