As roisin shortall just said on tv3 people are trying to pretend the virus is Gone. It’s not gone.

The variants are getting vicious in terms of how much more transmissible it is

I will not back down or forget my main concerns of family and friends who are at risk

How does transmissibility matter if the vaccines work? Most vulnerable people, including myself, have been vaccinated. What is the issue?

Why haven't they been vaccinated yet? They need to contact their GPs.

And cinemas will open on the 7th June! Yet a cavernous outdoor stadium will be allowed just 6% capacity and only in 3 months time. It'd be funny if it wasn't so serious.

Any link to the cinema reopening? Didn’t think we’d a date for that yet but hope to be wrong.

An estimation is better than a known incorrect figure

For a statistic based on just two components, being presented as a universal percentage where one of the components is an estimate.
    Afraid not.

One thing I agree with people here on is that there is no evidence the Indian variant is of any real concern in the medium term.

Then you must also agree that the fear mongering and subtle reminders of danger and dark clouds we have witnessed over the last few weeks by officials, ministers and media is a huge concern.

They were at this back in February as well...they were wrong then, they are wrong now....in fact, it has been perpetual since last November when they first started talking about variants of concern, just after the first announcement of a vaccine. I can recall, Brazilian, Kent, UK, South Africa and now India variants...we are always told how it each one is 60% more transmissible than the last! There have been 4,000 documented variants...so far.

    It's like an abusive relationship!

I'm a 'vulnerable' person, I got vaccinated as part of group 7 and find the 'but the vulnerable people' argument completely ridiculous. Anyone who is vulnerable should be vaccinated already.

The worse thing about the ridiculous 5000 max in Croke Park/stadiums will be accepted by MM and the cabinet no questions asked

Once again its all subject to change.

People want some sort of number for August 2+ months away, they're going to get it, very easy to increase that as the time gets closer, much like what has happened with previously announced measures which have subsequently been improved on closer the time.

Honestly relax for a bit, things get decided on closer the time.

25% of stadium capacity also mentioned that would be 20,000 in Croke Park.

You said you got your first shot 3 days ago so no idea how you think you are vaccinated.

Just got first dose of Pfizer from my GP. I’m in group 7.

"It takes 7 days after the 2nd dose for the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to work. This is when you are fully vaccinated. "

I know how the vaccines work, not sure what you're trying to prove

Variant - identified genetic differences in the genome
Variant of concern - identified genetic differences in the genome and in how the viruses behaves.

One is not the same as the other. Thankfully we now know that the vaccines are effective at preventing disease in all known variants of concern and very effective at preventing serious illness. We did not know that in November or February however and does not mean we don’t need to keep an eye on variants of concern

I got vaccinated. I got a vaccine into my arm, therefore I was vaccinated. This is literally completely irrelevant.

This is dangerous misinformation if you believe as soon as you get the first shot into your arm you are vaccinated and protected.

Don't get me wrong I am delighted to hear another person had their first shot but please don't post false information.

I can't tell if you're having a laugh or not tbh, you can be vaccinated and not protected, I literally never said I was protected. Added to the ignore list.
