Perhaps they end up still end up taking the cattle home with them @ €2.60/KG when it doesn’t work out for them

I'd imagine so. Two dealers who I recognised didn't get the price they wanted for any of theirs so I imagine they went home again.

Wasn't at the mart to correct. Was considering telling them to run them again but I'd said to hell with it.

Half hour or less left on bidding, I still can't get my head around the system of it tho.

Depends on grade, age etc. But I would no more than €4/kg but more like €3.60/€3.70 per kg.

A 600 kg friesian bull that was running with cows is probably very lean. Especially if over 24 months.
If under 24 months and is fleshy 3.40-3.80.kg depending on FS and grade.

If over 24 months 2.8-3/ kg unless you know a very nice procurement agent.

There would be outlying prices below thes a f he was FS1

Thanks for that. He is as you described. I would be very happy with 2.8 for him!

    I got 3.80 a couple of weeks ago for a 24 month old R- 2- Bullock 335kgs.
He was never right and was losing the ability to walk properly.
A good agent makes all the difference when dealing with factories.

This fella is probably a P grade TBH. Like a big Holstein cow, served his purpose though.

There was one in gortatlea a few weeks back 600kg 990. Over 24 months but age is irrelevant down there.

You would be surprised the way bulls grade. However I suspect he is FS 1. If you fattened Cull cows I would squeeze him with a budeeizer and let him off with them. He be a decent block by Christmas. However that is not an option for you. Even letting him off on grass as is with culls would be an option.

If he is very lean you might only get sub 2/ kg. This happened to me a few years ago I had a but with warts on his rid that was not thriving. Only got 1.4/ kg in the factory. Since then I try to resolve issues like that

Brought a couple of cattle to the mart today. The internet went down for the guts of an hour at the mart. Everything delayed. 4 lots sold then nothing.

Fair enough if it's just weight or something else is up with em, but if they are cross get them up the ramp, the longer they are around the higher the chance they'll catch someone out.
Last cross bull we had had to load him with the tractor and 2 more animals with him
