Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

These shower of f*cks do what the like as usual, and get away with as usual.

Where is Pavee Point this evening,

This has being going on since yesterday and the first I heard of it was on the 9pm news.

This 'where is Pavee Point' bollocks is getting tiresome.

They are on the record calling out large gatherings of travellers for the disgraces that they are all throughout the pandemic.

People here refuse to do their own f*cking research and just resort to the same, usual, lazy tropes because they've nothing else.

Now just waiting for someone to chime in with 'it's culture, boss' and the other usual diatribes.

This is a disgrace, but we all know exactly why this thread was started and it has nothing to do with COVID-19 restrictions.

An absolute scandal while the majority of the law abiding citizens put up with lockdown.
Pavee point should have questions to answer on this. Preferably on a live talk show where the spokesperson can be grilled about the complete lack of respect for the law the people they represent seem to have.

Let them do what they want but stick their discrimination bollocks up their hole the next time they cry wolf

The Gardai are a disgrace. Wont do a thing about this but have a house party in Donegal and they want people ringing a hotline on neighbours

Or harass old people in church.

No thought whatsoever about all the guests who had to ask for a day off work.

The cops have a hotline for Donegal,, But can't spot a big marquee being erected in broad daylight.

As for the people in the tent,, sure they do what they want, the always do.

This thread has everything to do Covid restrictions,

its a disgrace and should be highlighted, people have buried loved ones with only 10 people allowed into a church, and these shower set up a marquee and invite 200 people to it.

Because they are the only 'ethnic' group having weddings and funerals that blatantly break lockdown rules?

Because they constantly flout the law without repercussion?

Because pavee point constantly paint them as victims without addressing the trouble a large proportion of their group cause in communities and society in general?

Just today, Pavee Point were calling for Travellers to be prioritised for Covid 19 Vaccines because the number of cases doubled in a week within their community.

All the rights wanted, none of the responsibilities.

I don't know. I seem to remember a large funeral in Belfast. Also a large funeral in Wexford.

So no they are not the only ones yet when they do break rules we all get to rant about how terrible they all are.

Maybe they are more likely to break rules on weddings. So what the panic is nearly over. The fake outrage at this stage is a bit much.

How many people flew home over Christmas and broke the rules. That was ok though?

Well done to them. Getting on with life. Happy for the couple. I'm sure they are bothered by some racist whingers on here.

Why isn't there a thread about South Side coffee queues or the throngs on Dun Laoighre pier? Class is why

Coffee is essential service. Knocking back cans of warm Guinness isn’t.

Water canon is a good idea. Why did the gardai back down, why didnt they call in reinforcements? It makes a mockery of the law and the rest of us who abide by the law. No doubt the media will be quiet with no mention of the ethnicity of the group involved but tomorrow if one of the same ethnic group achieves something even if not extraordinary the media will be full of it.

Yes, the whingers on here are motivated by racism. If 200 settled people attended a wedding, there would be no thread.

However, fúck anyone who feels the need to congregate in large groups when we've still got >300 new cases per day, whatever their ethnicity.

Funeral in Wexford. Between 200-300 people gathered in a marquee and it turned into a super-spreader event. One of the sons of the deceased woman eventually contracted COVID and died.

Not a sign of faux-outrage from you on that particular occasion. People are gathering in large crowds at beaches up and down the country and you suddenly are either:

    1. oblivious
    2. ignorant

Don't tell me this is about COVID-19 restrictions, because you only take issue when it involves the travellers.

You're the second poster that has said I'm defending this. Point out to me where I said this was ok. I never. I'm just calling you out for your own faux-outraged hypocrisy.

It's society's fault for not understanding them. We should be ashamed of ourselves, look at ourselves long and hard in the mirror for judging them and their beautiful culture and heritage.

Garda Superintendent Jim Delaney said attempts by officers to engage with both the wedding organisers and the owner of the marquee had failed.

"We liaised with both families and the marquee owner and served them with written copies of the current State Covid-19 public health guidelines but both chose not to engage with us."

    So that's it, then?

GARDA: "Lads, will yiz move it on there now please?"
UPSTANDING MEMBER OF SOCIETY: "No, boss, we won't. We've a hape a pints to down here".
GARDA: "Ah ok, sorry 'bout that. Carry on".

I can't imagine this happening in any other country. The Gardaí need to be armed for this sort of thing. Give them three warnings, then if they still "choose not to engage", shoot the f....ers. That's the only thing scumbags will understand. That goes for anyone giving the two fingers to society in such a blatant manner.
