That was my point, the inhumans show was an abomination, and AoS isn´t MCU canon.

That was my point, the inhumans show was an abomination, and AoS isn´t MCU canon.

Inhumans were basically used to get around not having mutants so they could power up 'normals'. Whether the show was good or not, with mutants now on the way there is no need to ever mention them again.

AoS is definitely canon up to a certain point in the MCU and then it becomes somewhat more debatable. If they want to include Quake they can easily do so without opening the Inhuman box. The way AoS ended they definitely left the option for her up to cross paths with
    SWORD, Fury, etc

Looks that way. Could there be elements of the Spider Verse in this. Could explain characters from the pre Holland Films.

It reeks of Sony trying to force money from the film because into the spiderverse was so successful but at the same time it would be a great way to mix things up. Anyway, vaccine by Christmas hopefully so we can set least get into the cinema!

Well there has been Spiderverse and Spider Geddon events in the comics which dealt with different versions of Spider-man. Spider Geddon actually had the Spider-man from the PS4 game in it

Oh i love the multi verse from comics and cartoons but I don't trust Sony Films to handle it with integrity, hope I'm wrong.

Cripes Christmas feels quick. So weird when the likes of The Eternals hasn't even got a trailer yet and it's been in production since what, late 2019?

Not too surprising, Marvel have moved Black Widow so many times at this stage they won't want to take away from it by bringing out trailers for their other movies until they know when BW will definitively be released. Shang-Chi is before Eternals so you'll likely be waiting a while.

I know there is a lot of smoke about the multiverse but I'm interested in whether they'll have to shift their story a bit because Dr Strange 2 was supposed to be released before the new Spider-man movie. If they're both leveraging the same concept I doubt switching orders will be straight forward.

I don’t think AoS has any specific reason why it can’t be considered canon. They almost purposely avoided conflicting with the movie timeline so that they could stay neutral to that dilemma.

They messed around with the idea of broken timelines etc. in the last season and they could wave it away with a timey wimey explanation.

We’re currently watching a show where a dead robot is walking around alive, and a dead brother is walking around with the face of a person from the X-Men universe. I think we can assume all things are possible at the moment.

‘Jessica Jones’ Among Properties That Could “Perhaps Someday” Return To TV, Says Kevin Feige
Kevin Feige, Chief Creative Officer at Marvel Studios, today hinted that some of the company’s earlier television properties, many of which ran on Netflix could come into the Disney+ universe.

Under Jeph Loeb, who ran Marvel Television, which was launched in 2010, Netflix launched series including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher and The Defenders at Netflix.

However, in 2019, Feige was promoted to a role that would also include Marvel Television and Marvel Family Entertainment coming under the Marvel Studios banner.

Speaking at Disney+’s virtual TCA press tour when asked whether those properties could return to the Marvel Studios fold, he said, “I think we probably could do it, I think a lot of that stuff comes back to us. There’s always rumors online about things reverting, sometimes that’s true, sometimes it’s not, but I’m not exactly sure of the exact contracts but perhaps someday

Feige, who joined Marvel in 2000, added he wasn’t disappointed not to have had creative control of these properties in their previous television incarnation.

“My history at Marvel is vast and involved zero control for a long time so I paid more attention to the things I gained control over rather than the things I didn’t have control over. TV at that time was just one of those things that we didn’t, just like when Fox was doing X-Men movies or Sony was doing Spiderman movies without us,” he said. “That was just the rules under which Marvel was operating at the time. It was much more of an opportunity and something that excited us at Marvel Studios when Bob Iger started asking us to work on shows for Disney+. It wasn’t a disappointment or something we thought much about when Marvel Television was doing their series.

I disagree, given that Marvel seem to be about to do the same thing (WandaVision, Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness).

I would strongly wish and hope that Marvel have a tight rein on the production and development of the story within the greater MCU though. I wouldn't trust Sony to not mess it up, as you said.

I was hoping by for a Spidey vs. Sinister Six movie

I think that's what the last 2 series of films tried, a couple of villains in each and then a Sinister 6 film but they always got cancelled before it could happen. Spidey movies are in the best shape to make this happen but I don't think they will now. If they are doing Multi verse, might show different Spidey's fighting different villians but doubt we'll get 1 movie where they all team up. I'd ****ing love it though!

Yes and others too but there is also a rumour that the story involves the Multiverse with Parker travelling to different versions of his life.

So while various Spidey villains could appear the fact that they feature in the film doesn’t mean they do so as a team.

It also doesn’t mean they don’t but by a Sinister Six movie I meant the villains teaming up and causing even more of a challenge to Peter’s private life - which is one of the reasons I like Spidey - he has to deal with every day life as well as the heroics. The other heroes don’t have a normal life. If Peter is traversing the Multiverse then he isn’t saving people while trying to get to school on time.

So we have a multiverse where Michael Keaton is Batman :) in the MCU as well as Vulture and can appear in the MCU and the Sonyverse.

Anyone else thing that this multiverse of madness business could lead into Tom Parkers Spiderman switching totally over to the Sony verse?

Gives Marvel a chance to pay off on their storyline and creates a natural like switch to Sony verse where he mixes it up with Venom and Morbius

I just watched InHumans on Disney+

I knew it had been cancelled and that people didn’t think much of it but I knew nothing about the characters so thought it might still be entertaining.

It was shockingly dull and Anson Mount doesn’t do anything until the final two episodes. Crystal starts as a very likeable character (in a group of very unlikeable characters) but could the writers not think of anything better for her to do than fall for some guy?

I don’t binge watch but I watched this in three days thinking it would redeem itself.

Anyway my real purpose in posting is to ask - was the “greater threat” that Black Bolt was preparing for going to be the Kree?

And can anyone guess who “the Boss” of Callisto Aerospace was going to be? A know Marvel character or someone created for this show?

Didn’t Feige announce a movie reboot of this a few years ago? Apparently there is rumours of a series for Disney+ ? Is the comic version much the same as the show - isolated but advance kingdom where the true ruler is exiled to Earth by his brother wanting the throne?

Been done twice already in the MCU - Thor and Black Panther. Any future InHuman story would need to not tethered this again.

Think it's the only live action Marvel series I didn't watch.
There were originally plans for an Inhumans film in Phase 3 but was removed when they got Spider-man.
It was their answer to X-Men since they didn't have the rights. Was the reason the Inhumans came to the fore in the comics and X-Men origins started getting changed.
But now they have the rights to X-Men, dunno what will happen.

We had Inhumans in Agents of SHIELD though they'll happily ignore that if they need to.
Not sure what they're going to explain Ms. Marvel as in her series

Yeah I never watched The Inhumans either: when even the curated environment of a trailer couldn't stimulate excitement, I knew quicksmart this was a stinker - combined with its quiet relegation from the main MCU film release schedule. Subsequent YouTube videos of the "we watch it so you don't have to" variety have only backed up that first assessment. Everyone wants to just forget it ever happened.

As an aside, the series does remind that sometimes, despite best of intentions, a Marvel character will remind how once upon a time it was written as eye-trash for children. To wit: Black Bolt's real name is ... ... Blackagar Boltagon. Fantastic; I'm not immediately sure how one even pronounces that, it sounds so clumsy on my tongue. Clearly, the writer that day had other stuff on his mind at Marvel HQ :pac:

Kevin Feige never wanted Inhumans it was Perlmutter pushing the Inhumans and devaluing the X Men brand. Heck Perlmutter didn't even think a black or female led Marvel would work so if he had his way no Black Panther.

I love Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and am very happy there will always be more Coulson to watch but with the movies never acknowledging the InHumans and the Terragenisis contamination or the return of S.H.I.E.L.D. it pushed the show into an alternative timeline.

I am not expecting it to be official MCU.

I didn’t know Ms. Marvel is an InHuman. I assumed firm the name that she somehow got her powers from Captain Marvel.

Kamala was a fan of Captain Marvel and took the name Ms Marvel to honour her. Carol Danvers started out as Ms Marvel and only became Captain Marvel after the original died

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,289 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Will spoiler her origin as there are a couple things about her they have to explain
She gained her powers through terrigen most. Captain Marvel was Ms Marvel beforehand and Kamala was a big fan. She even uses the Ms Marvel bolt like Carol Danvers used. So the fact Carol skipped that being Ms Marvel they'll have to explain the bolt another way.

Went to see the first episodes of Inhumans in IMAX when it came out originally. The whole season was painful from basically every angle - trending worse by the obvious front loading of FX budget in the early part of the series.

With the MCU likely getting even more crowded with the Fox properties, I can't see them ever being resurrected - just living out their days in secret on earth with Steve in their moon base.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,135 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

The Inhumans or the Royal Family at least have been completely irrelevant for years at this point in the comics.

While older marvel characters the big attempt to push them forward only came when Marvel were trying to push out the X-Men they didn't own.

That comics push failed miserably along with the Inhumans Movie/TV debacle so they safte to say they wont see the light of day again for a while now.

Haven't watched the Falcon show; just never been interested in either leads stories. I was down on Wandavision but at least they were unique, eccentric and energised characters. Bucky and Sam are just generic soldier boys, even if the latter had gained the Cap America mantle in the comics.

Having watched the series, I would agree. I think both characters are better suited to tv. However I imagine the film will be an ensemble like Civil War, so the main characters not being especially compelling won't be a huge issue.

Standalone. It's not MCU, just a Marvel comedy show as far as I know, sort of like Rick & Morty or Robot Chicken kind of thing but Marvel characters (saw a clip of Iron Man in a trailer, will probably be more, references etc).

In Secret Invasion, Jackson and Mendelsohn reprise their MCU characters Nick Fury and the Skrull Talos, respectively, who first met in Captain Marvel. The crossover comic event series showcases a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.

The cast also is expected to include Kingsley Ben-Adir as a likely villain, Olivia Colman and Emilia Clarke. Further plot details are being kept under wraps and it’s not clear what role Scott would play. A rep for Marvel declined comment

    Includes:
    First clips from The Eternals
Black Panther 2 will be called Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Captain Marvel 2 will be called The Marvels (the S at the end of the logo is Ms.Marvel's symbol so looks like she'll be a big part of it too)
And Fantastic Four symbol at the end too but they already announced that previously.
