It isn't steady, as seen in yesterday's numbers.
Yesterday was an increase of 22 over last Tuesday.

Cases are heavily based on a weekly cycle. We get a low Tuesday every week so compare with the previous Tuesday.

Looks like France is going onto the UK's hotel quarantine list. So I would imagine that it will be added to Ireland's as well

For the record this compares to 557 last week showing a slow but steady drift upwards in case numbers.

Swabs 21 more than last week from 5k more tests and cases under reported last Wednesday by roughly 100 & let's not forget it was a bank holiday.

Any relaxation has to be regional, Donegal incidence (if I'm not mistaken) has doubled in the last few weeks.

Do we have a breakdown of admissions/hospital acquired infections for that number ?

We don't have a decent source on hospital acquired infections so we wouldn't have a decent source on the split in ages of them.

Hospital acquired infections are all upto a certain % because they can't tell if someone who was admitted with negative test and tested positive in hospital on day 3 or 4 acquired in hospital or not.

It would be interesting to see a graph where each day of the week was plotted on its own line.

95% of deaths are over 65. Get those vaccinated with a dose and deaths will plummet. Don't know what percentage of the 5% under 65 are in the at very high risk or at high risk groups but you'd assume the majority. Get those all vaccinated with a dose too and deaths should plummet further. We can have all that done by mid May.

They need to roll out the leak and get him to recite a lord of the rings poem to relax the nation.

Under 55 is a stupid way of grouping people. Whats wrong with splitting out by decade?

Lazy approach by useless leaders, which has led to posts like yours which factually might be correct, but tell no one anything.

Just rattle on about the useless government at every opportunity.

The OP giving the stats for under 55 is as pertinent as a breakdown by decade, when the under 55s are a long way from vaccination. Giving the figure in any more detail (which you can find if you care to go looking for it) doesn't change the potential risk to hospitals.

10% of todays cases are in Donegal, yet its just over 3% of the population of the Republic. On the list of the 5 walk in centres I saw earlier none were in Donegal. It also stipulates that you can go for a test in those centres if you live within 5km. Because getting tested for a virus that shut down the country isn't an essential reason apparently.

It absolutely changes the potential risk to hospitals. Which you can find if you care to go looking for it.

Munster is performing very well, we need a reward. Regional travel within the province.

What about those that can't be vaccinated? The under 18s with serious health issues?

It makes sense when they want to target a very specific area. A 5km catchment area would not make sense in donegal.

Is there a case to be made for lowering the restrictions in the counties with lower levels of infections? Or would this mean that the counties with the ridiculously high rates of infection could seed these counties much easier?

Seriously, what is going on with those top six?

It’s 5 counties driving the numbers! Munster as whole had 76 cases from a population of 1.28m people!!
