The government created a monster in NPHET

A monster that now has control of the nations ability to sustain itself

Last time we blamed the bankers and credit issues, this time it’s on NPHET

And the saddest thing is the government created NPHET to insulate themselves from having to make any decisions or accept responsibility for anything.

A big shower of incompetent snakes overpaid and completely useless.

Hopefully the people won’t forget at election time  like they all did after the banking crisis and voted back In Mehole and his cronies

The danger at election time pitch and putt is that the people will vote in an even bigger shower of snakes. The govt have been appalling I’ll never again vote for any of them but in IMO the opposition and the media have been worse.

Ronan Glynn said the other day that he appreciates how difficult it must be he the decision-makers, and that his role is advisory only.

I think the Government have succeeded in convincing people that a group of their advisors are responsible for their decisions, and they are somehow being held hostage by their own advisors.

Who is presiding over the controlled demolition of the economy?
Paschal Donohue, even though we don't see much of him.

The Gov want to use NPHET as a mudguard.

Glynn is laying the groundwork to absolve him and NPHET from the decisions made over the past 12 months that has thrown our country into serious financial position. Other countries will also face financial problems but our restrictions have been one of the strictest in the world.

Even golf, an outdoor sport has been closed over 180 days whereas Scotland only closed their courses for around 60 days.

Our approach from day 1 was an ultra cautious very conservative approach and don't worry about the economy or the mental health of the nation.

2,500 gardaí to be deployed over planned St Patrick's Day protests

Deputy Commissioner, Policing and Security Anne Marie McMahon said:...

"Staying home this St Patrick’s Day is the best thing people can do for their country and the best thing they can do for the people they know and love."

Anyone else find this extremely creepy language especially in the context of the title of the article?

    No.

Tin foil hat stuff. Again all part of creating baddies and goodies.

NPHET give public health advice based on a remit given to them by governance.

Exactly. enemies being people who refuse to wear masks, people who have huge weddings and funerals, people who have house parties, people who open shebeens and visit them during a pandemic. them kind of enemies. im taking mental notes of these people so when its all over I know who the stupid and selfish people are.

does that advice involve singling out an old woman in front of the country and attacking her for going to her brothers funeral?

They formed nphet but did not put proper governance, structure and decision making processes in place to ensure it is a body of appropriate capacity to critically analyse and independently advise on the matter of public health in the context of covid.

As it happens in this country time and time again it was done half-arsed, and that shows week in - week out.

I said it many times before, and repeat once again, nphet are dysfunctional and should have been disbanded a long time ago.

”Where’s the revolution? Come on, people you’re letting me down!”

easily missed it was only plastered here on several posts yesterday evening

    https://www.rte.ie/new...nphet-staying-apart/

Dr Ray Walley, a member of the National Covid-19 GP Liaison Committee told this evening’s briefing of an elderly patient of his who attended the funerals of her two brothers, two weeks apart.

As a result she contracted Covid, along with her children and grandchildren.

"She ended up seriously sick in a general hospital and many of her family ended up similarly," he said.

"I asked her what was the lesson she learnt from it and she said she should not have gone to either of her brothers' funerals. And these were congregations where you would have some degree of control. Whatever the reasons, congregations should not be happening."

    He isn't part of NPHET.

So the guidelines around funerals were not followed and a bunch of people ended up in hospital?

    Also
He said he was aware of patients who have died as a result of going to a funeral

His advice certainly lacked some sugar coating, but I think his point was valid.

It's still easier catch the special scum that give an exact time and place.

But we must forgive the guards for trying to insure more of their members don't get injured like last time.

    The Authoritarian Bástárds!!!

Cool, you haven't a breeze what goes on in the city on a daily basis, grand stuff. Just for clarity, there are more garda injuries or off work due to those scumbags who frequent the city centre daily.

Tomorrow's policing effort is purely a political exercise.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

    No it isn't.

The vast majority of people agree with the public health measures.

The policing put in place is there to try and prevent people being injured and the spread of a disease that may just prolong lock down.

    Again, Goodies and Baddies!

    It's boring.

it was still at a nphet briefing and was there to solely function as a scary story before bedtime for the elderly it's amazing the funeral in longford and several others before it have gone undiscussed

I don't agree Fintan. The government should not be allowed pass the buck to NPHET. I'm not a huge fan of NPHET and I think they've overstepped their remit a number of times but the fault lies squarely at MM, Leo and Ryan.

I think you forgot something there Fintan

Were in the midst of a global Pandemic

What other country in the world hasn't seen a fiscal impact over the last year? Can you name me one?

He is a Doctor in Dublin as he stated, not in Longford.

From the article he was asked typical ways on how it is spreading, he gave factual answers based on his experience.

If you find that "scary" maybe stop watching it.

It is amazing to see that he did not have any anecdotes with regard to the traveler community gatherings. Covid does not spread there? Or he has no balls to mention that? I know where my bet it.

Of course it's a political exercise. And it's not the Garda's job to prevent the spread of disease. Mind you, the lines have become so blurred now it's understandable how you might be confused by that.

said it was a story meant to scare the elderly read again. I never realized geography came into effect in nphet briefings so why weren't events in longford talked about?

Regardless of events elsewhere he absolutely should not have brought that poor woman into the conversation.

The "should have followed public health advice" line shows such a staggering lack of emphathy that it's almost pointless in engaging in. Remember to "follow the science" as long as the science is the one they agree with.
