What, that seems very sudden. I didn't think there was anywhere in West Europe at the moment with COVID related strain on their healthcare infrastructure.

The 'variant' is nature's variant- it was simply discovered by UK scientists. No need to try to turn it into a quasi-racial slur.

It's true that it's nature's virus, but it's also true that the UK's failure to lockdown adequately or control the virus in any way turned the country into a massive petri dish that allowed the virus ample opportunity to mutate.

It's no coincidence that two of the most problematic variants in the world have come from the UK and Brazil, the two countries with the absolute worst handling of the pandemic of all major nations on earth.

    Exactly.

Which is why low case numbers is not a result of lockdown

Explain the cause of low case numbers then.

People are saying the Biden thing will be a waste of time... you never know though. The US vaccinated 4.6million people yesterday, thats staggering. Biden might say that because of Irish roots, we'll be given 100,000 doses. Small fry for the US, but thats a good chunk of our over 75s.

Or put it this way, it'll get us to the top of the list of countries likely to get some leftovers from the US. Its certainly worth a shot.
For a AZ vaccine that we don't use on that group

The "surge" on mainland Europe (as well as the US) is being put down to the UK variant spreading. We've already seen that effect

What US surge? Cases are currently plateaued after weeks of steady decline. No surge as of yet.

There is no doubt that the AstraZeneca vaccine has caused some deaths in the UK as per the weekly reports covering adverse reactions to approved COVID-19 vaccines published by the UK government.

There 275 deaths reported as per the last page between 04/01/2021 and 28/02/2021:
    ...
That seems to be moreso keeping track of things that happened the vaccinated cohort, as opposed to things that happened DUE to the vaccination. Or are you suggesting that the listed insect bites, car accident, falls, and electric shocks, for example, are due to covid?

Numbers are great to be honest. A real rainbow after a long storm

The vaccination of HCW’s must be helping those figures significantly

I hope you are right :) I know nothing is simple/black and white at the moment but main thing is hospital/ICU numbers keep coming down....Case numbers relatively speaking don’t matter that much - relatively speaking I say!

Six people, largely distanced, having a shot in an empty bar. They probably shouldn't be doing it but it's hardly outrageous. At least we now have people to blame this week if cases go up!

So what are you and he insinuating, that the vaccine is actually causing most of these deaths?

If you read my post again you'll see I never said anything of the sort, and also pointed out that "he seems to be anti mask and anti vaccine too". Calm your outrage.

He retweeted below too - that majority of covid deaths in Ireland are in the last 2 months. Does seem stark.
So what exactly are you getting at with this bit?

That's a difficult one. That the majority of covid deaths in ireland being in the last 2 months seems stark. That ok?

They aren't even remotely distanced, they are literally rubbing shoulders. I'm sure they arrived for the single shot and quickly returned to following restrictions.

A good way to avoid being blamed for something is to not share it on social media and openly gloat. Hope the pub loses its licence.

To clarify. My post perhaps wasn't clear enough. I totally disagree with him. Thought that was clear enough when I said that he thinks that because there are no deaths today, there's no reason for lockdown. And that he is anti mask and anti vaccine too.

I humbly beg the mob to forgive me :)

It was clear enough you disagreed but why give him any credit by posting his complete nonsense in full?

Never meant to post the full tweet (which wasn't from him but something he retweeted). I had meant to post just the reference to the figures this year. Agree that it provided unwarranted attention to the content!

6 people?? You'd be that close to people in Tesco these days!
Plus they could all be in the same bubble or from the same family.

I'm so over this shaming in on social media platforms! It worked a year ago, now its just tired. People are tired of living their lives in lockdown and that's why this kind of thing is happening. The Government have lost the people at this stage with no roadmap whatsoever of when we can get back to some kind of living.

(if I was them I wouldn't have posted it on TikTok though)

There 275 deaths reported as per the last page between 04/01/2021 and 28/02/2021:

    The report is available here:

    https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/968414/COVID-19_AstraZeneca_Vaccine_Analysis_Print.pdf

    More reports available here:

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine-adverse-reactions

How many died in the unvaccinated group during that time? How many of those died of Covid?

Paging through the first link, you'll see that some of the deaths were due to Covid, some due to gastric issues, a lot due to pneumonia which infamously targets the elderly and frail.

I repeat, there's no reason to postpone administration of AZ. France and Germany aren't. You're falling victim to 'vaccine hesitancy' spurred on by the anti-vax hooligans.

And, I'd gladly sign a release to enable the government to vaccinate me, if that would make it happen. Why not offer us that?

Pisses me off when I hear of healthcare workers spreading **** about the vaccines! My granny came home scared out of her mind after her dentist warned her that she's at higher risk of spreading covid to all her dental patients now after getting vaccinated , because the vaccine entails having a 'little bit' of covid injected into you.
And my granny believed it, Thought she'd just been up close and personal having an infectious person peering into her open gob. Yeh we spent a whole year distancing only to inject it into everybody. It's the vaccinated who are the real danger to society now!

Seriously infuriating to see random people in medical environments abusing the status , the fact they work in a hospital doesn't necessarily mean they know anything more about covid or vaccines than the layman..clearly! Unfortunately that white coat allows them to say anything with authority about anything in a separate medical field and many will believe them to have more trustworthy views on it than the general public.

Report the dentist... .oh wait, this is Ireland. Probably no way to do that nor would anything happen.

Ahh here, you have to either report it or ring the dentist yourself and ask did your granny hear them right. That's unacceptable.

Tbf, it's also 6 people in the video. Who knows if there's more than that in the pub, as they clearly don't give a damn about the restrictions

Unless all the others decided to shut up and hide behind the camera while filming this, I'm going to say I'm pretty confident it's just them.
