If I'm correct, that Crown is located somewhere near Rathmines/Portobello area as I'm certain I see it a lot there. Always catches my eye

You're correct to say that there is a crown, not to give away its location, but it's near a 94 Impreza just off the Rathmines Road. I don't know if they're the same one as that one. I think there's two in Dublin. The one in Rathmines is from the noughties I think myself and Duke posted it up here before.

Is that not a black 04/05 06 reg one?

    It's also 16k

    Those rear seats are deadly.

But what happened to Luxobarge sub 5k rule? Which box of this does that glorified toyota for 16k tick?

Well, at least it is a barge and not a van.

Spotted a bit of a fixerupper on facebook but it's probably appropriate for here.

740i... Sounds like a gearbox problem and a few other issues. Car looks straight enough though and it's relatively cheap.

    Asking 2750...

Im not on Facebook so I don't know if it is the same person selling, but I went to look at this car about 10 years ago. I think it it is exactly this one as colour and alloys match. Back then seller was selling two 740i for the same price, this one with gearbox problem and a dark green one with engine problem, with a notion that buyer could make one normal from two. Funny though, price was about 1500 for both back then. But I guess, e38 is more valuable today.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,093 ✭✭✭pcardin

sorry, not the one. Its listed on adverts too, this is 2001, that one was 1998, same colour and same hideous alloys, exactly the same issue. Strange.

I was (bidding)going to buy that until I saw , that I could buy a real good immaculatel one on candc for asking price of 8k and probably get for a lot less .
I also thought there was an outside chance that it had the vrt paid historically when I saw the Michael Smurfitt connection , alas a history check put paid to that.

This eBay one was knocked down for £2250 , but immediately back up for sale /relisted the following morning . Reserve was originally passed at 1800 , I wonder did the seller bump it up himself to 2250 and get caught out.
Anyway he can keep it especially with the complication of a Re reg to facilitate private plate transfer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,661 ✭✭✭Voodoomelon

You're right, very messy to re register, plus the sheer amount of work it needs, you'd want 10k on hand just to sort the bodywork and issues mentioned, never mind the ones that aren't.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,239 ✭✭✭Lurching

I'd only buy that thing to harvest the engine.
Put it in to something interesting.

What's boards opinion of these in general ? Worth a gamble or no ?

Great cars, mechanically very strong - but can be a bit sensitive with sensors and warning lights for stupid things (and some expensive things). I've sold about ten of them over the last few years.

That one has decent enough spec - rear blinds, comfort seats (IMO a must have above all else), and a night vision camera. Might have more but its hard to tell from the ad.

I think its very expensive for a car touching 180k miles with 10 owners and essentially no NCT. If the tax is PSV tax its worthless too.

This one seems to be alright of value. But it's not a one owner car as the seller claims and it's a bit down on spec

I was going to add to my earlier post, if I had to pick one of the twenty or so E65/6s on Donedeal currently, it’d probably be that

clean but literally no options on it, that was definitely bought as a company car where squeezing every penny on the lease mattered.

My next door neighbour just landed home with an Audi A8 2015 with the rear seat lounge package. Beautiful car. Hugely impressive interior. He actually went down a year to get it he had a 2016 e class.

4 houses in a row now with black Audis in driveway, the 2015 A8 then myself and another have A6s (his is 2016 mine is 2014) and another neighbour has a 2018 A4.
