So you are suggesting if Glynn had said nothing and it came out later they had not told us this and it turned out to be something of substance you would not be screaming cover up

Nope I have already said how I believe Glynn should have responded. You disagree that's fine, you have your opinion .
    Btw I don't scream.

This week compared to last week

    894 fewer cases
    1084 fewer positive swabs
    72 fewer reported deaths
    137 fewer in hospital

    Good progress all round again.

What data? Speculation is not data.
The Imperial college tracked the pregnancy of 4000 women and found no connection between Covid and still birth. Ireland on the other hand suggests we found 4 .
I can't help it if you don't like a topic being discussed, so unlless you're a Mod advising me to stop I'll carry on.

They literally have data on 4 cases, that is literally the data they have and literally the data they have shared. They obviously have a cause for concern, however even so they have said it's rare, only "possible", not confirmed and that in general things have been positive with pregnancies in Ireland. You're having a melt down over something you've misunderstood.

Should probably read the article below. Long Covid appears to happening to some kids. We have to remember that this new variant B117 seems to be behaving differently among kids. It would seem that they are in a more vulnerable position atm. Erring on the side of caution is wise, that's what history has taught us.

It was this time last year that it took off like a rocket.

Even if it is seasonal, we're 6 days into Spring, so it's going to stay cool and damp for a while yet.

What season? It didn't subside for the southern hemisphere's Summer. There is no evidence of it being seasonal nor can there be with a new virus until at least three annual cycles have been evaluated.

Its climbing higher again.. Really thought we'd see progress at this stage.. What's going on.. The schools?

It depends what you mean by seasonal. People being indoors in unventilated rooms are the conditions where the virus will spread rapidly. This can happen in any season - in hot climates it might actually be more likely to happen in the summer, when it is too hot to stay outdoors. In Ireland, we spend a lot more time inside in the winter months and that will help the virus to spread. As others have said, it is still cold and damp at this time of the year so it will be another little while before the brighter warmer weather has an impact here.

Its just a cycle during the week.

Jesus, you're still going on about this pregnancy thing? Totally bizarre.

How is it bizarre? Are you a pregnant woman? Sleep well the other night did you?

NPHETS behaviour the other night was similar to a doctor saying to someone with a cold and a mild cough “you may have lung cancer. Go for a scan.”

But look I’m not an expert in all of this. I have no qualifications in the area of infectious diseases, immunology or epidemiology.

    Just like Tony Holohan.

Where are we at with the 7 day average now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,215 ✭✭✭prunudo

Regarding whether the virus itself is seasonal or not, it doesn't really take a genius to work out that cases will be higher during our winter months when traditionally we get respiratory infections yearly spreading through the community. Between immune systems being at their lowest and everyone staying indoors in stuffy badly ventilated buildings its a perfect environment for a virus which is more contagious than regular respiratory infections to spread.

How did you come to that conclusion? Articles on news channels were pretty clear on this matter. Are you having wind up moment?

There are 11 reported cases of this complication across an estimated 300,000,000 cases of infection worldwide. 115,000,000 confirmed cases.

I’d say those odds warrant waiting for official confirmation rather than needlessly frightening every pregnant woman in the country wouldn’t you?

And if NPHET said nothing I'd be inclined to think people would start criticising the for a "cover up".

No matter what NPHET say or do it will be twisted.

They didn’t have to include the stillborn deaths in the daily total. I know they de notify but why not just wait until confirmed? Why do they do this?

They didn’t have to mention this at all especially given the overwhelming odds that are well known.

Tony Holohan has publicly stated how he is “concerned about fear levels in the community.”

They know what they’re doing. I’ll leave it at that.

Correct. Both are recklessly speculative suggestions to make without any kind of proof.

    Cases the last 3 Saturdays

    6/3 - 539
    27/3 - 738
    20/3 - 988

7-day average in cases the last 3 Saturdays

    6/3 - 535
    27/2 - 663
    20/2 - 808

If you still can't see progress then you probably need a eye test.

0 cases in Donegal. Must be August since that happened, it has been high there since September anyway.

I was in a Tesco yesterday and had to laugh when I saw the Rimmel stand shuttered closed.
Meanwhile, I can go into Boots or any pharmacy and peruse the makeup aisles languidly and buy whatever I want.

Hopefully we will all get through this, look back on this and just laugh at some of these silly restrictions.

Just saying its might not be schools thats help spread the covid. Could be people gathering for football matches and bringing it home to their families. That's all

How is it different? Glynn linked these stillbirths to an extremely rare complication without any confirmation whatsoever.

Do you not think that’s OTT?
