But, but ,but Macron said it was not effective in older people. The German press said it was only 8% efficeient. How could they be wrong ?

Shame the evidence couldn’t be produced at the time of approval and we’d all have avoided a whole lot of hassle. I guess the UK were in such a state at the time they had to take the risk, it’s look like it has paid off for them thankfully.

Spain (and most of Europe) at 8% first doses, moving at about 1% per week .... that;s 92 WEEKS left just for first doses.

    The never ending sh1tshow .... :(

    Assuming things don't ramp up.

**** trials. 8% of the trial group was over 50. They were 95% confident that the efficacy in older people is somewhere between 8 and 92%.

Hopefully some useful data has since been gathered that would allow agencies to be comfortable recommending the vaccine to older people.

    The risk of losing money?

Do you really believe it's going to take nearly 2 years to complete first doses? Come on ffs. It's been said time and time and time again that deliveries will ramp up over the coming weeks and months. Most EU countries are hoping to offer all adults first doses by mid summer.

my sources have told me the vaccination setup is incredible tbh

I know what I know. What I know says its an unreal setup.

There's a lot of disdain for the HSE in my household for a number of reasons despite them contributing to one half of our combined salaries. But when it comes to the vaccine rollout and the set up and what they're doing with the vaccines we receive. From what I have heard, I can't fault it and completely agree with what you've been hearing. And it would be from sources very close to it also. One being the misses who is sticking them in people's arms.

Is there any more information on who is in or out of Group 4? I am on immunosuppressing treatment not mentioned in Group 4 but I can't get any clarity on whether that incudes my treatment:

    - treatment included but not limited to Cyclophosphamide, Rituximab, Alemtuzumab, Cladribine or Ocrelizumab in the last 6 months

Rang my GP and he said they had got no clarification from the HSE despite asking. Can't get any clarification on what the "but not limited to" actually means in terms of specifics.

Try looking here and talk to your gp/specialist..

Varadkar also told FG PP he still expects more than 80% of adults to be offered their first dose by the end of June and for all adults to be vaccinated by September
why do they keep using this 80% of adults line what about the other 20%?

"more than 80%" it says. He's covering his arse. Also certain groups may not be eligible e.g pregnant women.

Would expect a certain number of adults will refuse outright. According to polls it's likely about 85% of adults will volunteer to take it.

its not about who may choose not to take it, its about how many will be _offered_ it

You’ll also have people who’ll refuse to take it.

Those who don't take a vaccine offered to them, can take their chances.

Why did this not show up in the vaccine testing. It does not happen with other vaccines

Swollen lymph nodes did show up in the trials of each of the mRNA vaccines. It's been published and talked about since P1 trials.

Im not sure what you mean. Take your chance with a different vaccine or the virus itself? Id love to know if sputnik or sinovac are approved here how many would queue up to take it

but he is not suggesting they going to offer it to 100% and then 80% will take it up, he saying they will only be offering it to 80% by June, why is that a useful figure? what about the other 20%

You mean, you'll have Sputnik and Sinovac for the lefties. What will they give to the right wing nut jobs?

Sorry I misread the original post, I apologise.

At a guess, The 80% is a high enough number to reach based on supply, any higher than that and they’d count it as a success so they can pat themselves on the back.

You lost me at the 3rd paragraph because it is just absolutely not spreading in Ireland

As far as I know we are at 15 or 20 cases, and it doubles every week, so a bit early yet to say it isn't spreading?

Useful data, what more data are you asking for?

Hundreds of millions of older people around the world taking the vaccine. Virtually no risk from it, no severe infections, no going to hospital and no deaths.

Pure stupidity which will now be costing lives.

With the vaccine being so effective, 80%+ will be enough.

The last update was 15 cases, all of which are people who have arrived from south africa. That sounds like not spreading to me.
