Lots of people have tried to do many things, myself included

The politicians and public servants don’t care about about the economic catastrophe, it won’t effect them.

So the emails don’t actually carry any gravity.

The journalists have the most accessible popular material that they ever required. Not one journalist will question the narrative.

RTE have discovered death sells regardless how saturated their content is with death

So boards is all that’s left

So have you picked up the phone and spoken to a TD or a journalist? Did you chase up these emails you say you sent? Have you tried to organise a lobby group?

What do you think posting in this thread is going to actually achieve? Seriously?

I would be curious to know what you think we should do Fintan all the same. I've asked a few times and you've never answered.

You're well able to criticise what's going on and critique other people's ideas - so what are your ideas?

I’ll have them on your desk Monday morning!

Seriously, put me on ignore if I get your back up so much.

Well that isn't strictly true, we got a snippet from the High Court ruling against Ryanair's frankly embarrassing case back against "everyone" in the Autumn.

The Judge could have knocked it out in a paragraph or two but he went way further.

Of course any new legislation will have be compatible with EU law, but not entirely beholding to it during a public health crisis.

Well, strictly speaking it is true. I remember the Ryanair case well. The government were all over the media telling people they couldn't travel, when in fact it was just an advisory. Now, the devil is in the details here and anyone could have checked the government websites to find that information. Nonetheless, there they were, all over the media spouting the same narrative that flying to countries wasn't allowed.

It's also fair to say that case was taken before the government put a permanent Garda checkpoint around the airports and started dishing out substantial fines for trying to leave the country under the guise of breaking the 5km rule.

well i think this talk of living with restrictions for the rest of 2021 and into 2022 is ridiculous and unnecessary. once the OAPs and the sick are vaccinated what's the point? over 50s maybe should be vaccinated but after that this should be over

Big companies/organisations like GAA, Ryanair, Vinters and Aerlingus have had no luck.

Ultimately, what can any of us do?

We’d need to protest. But very difficult to arrange something on any sort of large scale without a political party or something on board.

And the media would desperate to paint you as a granny killing facist.

Considering the over 70's won't be done till mid June, 2022 sounds about right for getting the over 50's done.

It's looking more and more inevitable unfortunately. The CMO and the Health Minister in the north are now saying the same. They did say that those restrictions may only be wearing masks in shops and public transport...but still...

EDIT - ...and that's coming from somewhere that has the first jab in 22% of the population.

If your open with yourself Arghus you dodge lots of questions yourself.

Is there any point in me making suggestions to determine the cost effectiveness of closing construction, or the value of behavioural science when implementing long periods of suppression, or accurate tracking of transmission, how many cases in hospital caught it in there, etc etc only for you to suggest I want to let it rip.

It’s the go to argument when your, and many others, perpetual defence of NPHET comes up lacking in common sense.

So...no answers then. I asked you quite recently (in the last week or so) what you would open up right now. I didn't get an answer either.

I know sadly esp with the generous financial supports been handed out, people will accept these restrictions. Could be a different story if these supports are cut

To the anti lockdown people(Don't like this phrase but it is what it is) . Always know least you had a mind of your own. If nothing else but to keep your sanity and to prove that you have a defiant spirit. You had to ability to have a passionate view on something and didn't just sleepwalk like a compliant zombie into the restrictions. There is many justifiable reasons for lockdowns from one point of view but the amount of people who just passively go along with everything, moaning about some government mishap while eulogising NPHET, these people are the problem. Characterless brainless mongs. Intellectually lazy and lacking any backbone. Just want to fit in and any sort of deviation from the script is frowned upon. As soon as the wind blows and it becomes acceptable to criticise the lockdowns they'll be all about it. The same eejits want more restrictions while flaunting the rules when it suits.

Orwell really had people down to the ground.

They stated that restrictions couldn't be completely lifted (and I'm paraphrasing here) until the entire world was vaccinated...

Not read such nonsense on boards for a while.

We have safety measures in place to control driving and reduce deaths just like we have for Covid.

We do have safety measures for both that's not disputed. My point being relevant to "zero-covid" which seems to be where this new bullsh*t is going.

whatever side of the restrictions fence you're on everyone has to admit that's too much. these scientists and doctors have gone off the rails if they think that's an acceptable or realistic stipulation. it's time for the government's to get out from under the table and take back control
