If we PCR tested the whole nation right now, we would find 100,000 cases easy

If it's 25% positivity from PCR tests today, it has to be 2-3% nationwide if we tested everyone

    Must be everywhere

I agree with the math on this. Has to be between 2-5%. It's difficult to say where, but I'd be confident it's above 2.5%.

Thank you . That makes sense and maybe a better way to try and see how the daily numbers are going

Agreed. I am seeing the swabs as the key figure (over cases) at the moment myself.

I am also considering positivity rate as very important.

Hospital and ICU numbers are important too but it's at a big lag.

It's a fact that you can't argue with!

What is also a fact is, you're here trying to scare people off, who are already scared out of their mind, off getting a takeaway, under the speculative assumption that the chef "may" have had it.

I'm not trying to scare anyone off, will you calm down.

People can make their decisions, I think on balance it's safe to get a takeaway, but I understand why people have concerns and ask questions.

Tony H looks and sounds a bit rattled here.

No wonder, we're in a pretty dire place

    This is a WUM right?

The advice we've all been given since March, the same advice that has been given internationally... is it a windup.. eh.. no

Covid dies in 65 degree heat, your food is cooked and it takes all of 15 seconds to pop in and collect it after paying for it online, then pretend the bags and outer containers are covered in covid so you throw them away when you get home and you wash your hands thoroughly, reheat the food if you need to, and enjoy your meal. Nobody dies.

Me though? I'm going to wait till hospitals aren't overrun before going outside again, I have enough tinned food for at least a month. I won't have to go to work until level 3

Even if the risk is minuscule I don't want to be another case / pain in a HCA's ass ... plus, what if on the way to the takeaway I fall and break my arm! What if I'm attacked by a badger protecting her cubs! That's the last thing my local hospital needs

After 9 months, can they still not display graphs directly on the tv feed, for the tv audience, instead of just on screens in the room for the journalists.

Assume they have covid, 100%. Figure out "how do i get this food safely despite the fact the chef and servers all have covid", because it can be done

And you already know the answer so you're sorted!

Think the issue would be with the sign language interpreter.

Could it not be possible to tell us todays number and the added in backlog ?
We have no clue how many were today ?

The numbers will be somewhat skewed and meaningless for a while.
They need to be more transparent about the backlog.
Like if we get 4000 on Thursday, people will get the wrong impression the new restrictions are already impacting.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

I returned home highly symptomatic from travel to Africa at start of pandemic (travelled out when things were apparently ok, arrived home on cusp of pandemic) and phoned out of hours GO service and was asked "what do you want us to do about it?" There was no proper organisation then.

How have you felt since having it Catmaniac?

Interpreter shouldn't be in the room.

There should be three feeds. The slides the interpreter and the nphet speakers.

Interpetor can be shown in the corner in her own screen.

What is my fear is that when this current lockdown is finished; people will go out and enjoy life again and cases will no doubt increase again...it will be deja vu watching NPHET again on TV over and over again.

It going to be a fun year

    There's one in Roscrea :)

I haven't watched once since summer. I can get the data off RTE without the tone.

Do you ever notice these days whenever Tony or any of the ministers are asked a question about why something is failing (the Cider system?? computer that hasn't been able to cope with reporting), they'll answer by saying "Well as you know it's a brilliant system and it's managed incredibly well, we're resolving it remarkably quickly, we're actually amazing considering."

It makes me physically throw up whenever they do it.
