I actualy didnt get this. Op is affraid to order and by your logic ( I mean you and the other guy), that means he wants them to go out of business? I prefer dominos but not 4 star, chinese but not indian, but that doesnt mean that i want indian takeaways and 4star to shut forever

No, I'm referring to others. Sorry, should have made that clear.
Takeaways was the first thing that came to mind because it was mentioned in recent posts

Including the backlog, I think we're about 30% of all of 2020 cases in the 4 days of 2021 so far

Classic retort when you have no answer, as per usual.

    Sad

What am I supposed to retort to - there's nothing to respond too.

"There's only one thing to do in life"

How is that relevant to what we're discussing? It's an Internet edge lord non-sequitur in place of an argument.

Daily hospitalisations were higher in March than they are now suggesting underlying case numbers were higher

Hospital beds were being used as isolation facilities (big mistake imo as it caused more spread in health care workers) in March. It's not really comparable.

Nolan setting up return to primary schools only there by highlighting relative low incidence in primary age groups

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 128 ✭✭Solar2021

Higher incidence than last spring, when they were catching 1 in 3 cases

    1 in 10 more like

If we PCR tested the whole nation right now, we would find 100,000 cases easy

If it's 25% positivity from PCR tests today, it has to be 2-3% nationwide if we tested everyone

    Must be everywhere

Today...Ireland basket case with highest rate in EU.

I had also thought you had said that, but perhaps it was just that your commentary in general suggests that you are.

But regardless, why are you asking the below question?:

When 8 months ago someone else asked the same question and it was yourself that provided the answer?

For someone that has an infinite amount of posts stating how depressed you are listening to all this, why do you spend so much time on here? You really should take some time away and think about something else.

Well I was asking about the chance of someone preparing my food having covid. Sorry for asking.

No harm assessing reasonable risks. Would you eat a sandwich prepared by someone if you knew they had covid?

It's a fact that you can't argue with!

What is also a fact is, you're here trying to scare people off, who are already scared out of their mind, getting a takeaway, under the speculative assumption that the chef "may" have had it.

    Essential food shops,

    medical

    utilities

everybody else stay the fcuk at home

    Really?

Garages that repair the cars and repair the delivery vehicles of essential service?

Other motor trade suppliers, like Tyres and parts, to keep those vehicles going?

Fuel supply for vehicles and home heating?

    NCT and CVRT testing?

I'd prefer not be be killed or injured by a vehicle that should not be on the road, but wasn't tested, given the number that every day fail even the basic testing that is in place. Stop the testing, and some will stop the maintenance. Not a good plan.

Electrical and Plumbing suppliers? Basic civilisation requires that we ensure that emergency repairs are done, or are you happy to see houses in darkness or with no heat etc?

Domestic appliance repair services? The failure of things like a fridge, freezer or washing machine is not a minor irritation to many, especially given the other restrictions in place.

I'd prefer not to see construction shut down, I'm biased, OPW are building a flood prevention scheme through my site at the moment, it's only 5 years behind schedule at the moment, and I really would prefer that it wasn't another year before we get our lives back, we've been on hold for 5 years as it is.

Having said that, there is certainly an issue relating to buses and vans bringing in groups of workers, especially from the North, give the problems with the numbers in that area, which needs to be addressed, as does the issue of construction workers claiming "asthma" to get round mask wearing when calling in to motorway services and the like.

We certainly don't need things like Horse Racing, Betting shops, "Elite" sports, take away pints, and things like clothing boutiques at the moment.

Places like Electrical retailers selling things like TV's and the like should be click and collect or home delivery, along with carpet showrooms and large furniture suppliers, with only pre agreed appointments for urgent need cases, a massive percentage of their sales is not "essential" while the pandemic is as severe as it is.

While it may not be easy to accept, shops that have brought in "special lines" that are not their normal stock in trade to circumvent the "essential" classification should be closed again until the immediate crisis is over.

Some of the above is not a popular opinion, but I'm not looking for votes, I am more interested in trying to reduce the potential death count in the coming weeks, if the hospitals are overwhelmed with Covid patients, even if they are not severely ill, there is a risk that other life threatening issues will not get the level or urgency of treatment that they need, and ANY death that's caused by overload of the service is unacceptable.

Equally important, there are all manner of services that may not be deemed "essential" for most, but for families dealing with disability of any sort, physical or mental, there will be requirements that need to be dealt with, urgently, to avoid causing even more problems to the patient or carers, and timely methods to facilitate these needs have to put in place if they are not there at present.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Assume they have covid, 100%. Figure out "how do i get this food safely despite the fact the chef and servers all have covid", because it can be done

Swabs were announced a couple of hours ago. It was approx 5100.

Take that as today's number if you want.

For all I know cases is all backlog with new cases filtering in to add to the backlog.

I hope we are near the peak.

This faffing around with half-arssed lockdowns with regard to schools, construction and "essential" cappuccinos is not the answer.

I returned home highly symptomatic from travel to Africa at start of pandemic (travelled out when things were apparently ok, arrived home on cusp of pandemic) and phoned out of hours GO service and was asked "what do you want us to do about it?" There was no proper organisation then.

I didn't realize we had to pay for private hospitals, [socialist]i thought we could just take them. We allow them to operate in our country, and now we need them to stop people dying... so... [/socialist]
There is a proposed deal where they were looking at 40% for up to two years.
