Pointless. There are 15,000 Guards, 10,500 Defence Forces and 5,000,000+ people.

Then they dont get the vaccine. We are waiting on almost 100 consent forms to be returned to us. Will be interesting to see how many families will give consent.

But from the staff point of view - where is the legal line - they have the right to feel protected in work - can they refuse care to any resident that refuses to have it - likewise can families insist care from only staff that have the vaccine.

There is the human cost as well. What happens to the poor healthcare staff who develop long-covid?

The implications for staffing is terrifying in hospitals. We cannot conjure healthcare staff out of nowhere. We have to get the vaccinations to the healthcare staff as a matter of urgency.

Absolutely! yee should be priority 1

That argument doesn’t make any sense. Covid is currently present in China. 1 Covid case will become thousands over time. They are not locked down and carrying on as normal. A severe lockdown and shutting the borders will not do anything if the virus remains present.

China not only had a very harsh lockdown and closed borders but they have implemented a massive track and trace program along with huge rapid response testing. There was a few cases in Dalian around Christmas week and they tested over a million people in a few days.

Where has the "1800 vaccines administered" figure come from? It seems to be gospel everywhere now, but is it one of those cases where websites are just quoting each other with no actual source?

Sort of like this - https://xkcd.com/978/

Paul Reid confirmed it on Friday morning.

    2km limit
Closing schools (probably the last item on the list)
    Shutdown some healthcare services
Close more retail services (a lot of places still open)
    Enforce work-from-home

Something like that probably, so it would be similar to the March restrictions.

(I'm not saying any of these will or should happen, just thinking what the options are)

    stop construction also

Fines work. Hit people's pockets and they won't take the risk.

Asking them politely to not be bold does f all.

Ireland's problem is there's not enough fear. Here (UAE) there's a fine for nearly everything. Abu Dhabi is doubly strict. I'm in quarantine with a GPS tracker on me after international travel. If I didn't present for the tracker then I'd have been slapped with a 12,500euro fine. I can bé fined 500 Euro for not presenting for my follow up PCR on my 8th day of quarantine.

Always go up and buy some when I'm in Dublin! Simply amazing!

    Seriously?

In fairness loads of countries beat this thing. New Zealand, Mongolia, Vietnam, South Korea... and then there were countries who were beating it but got criticized by conspiracy theorists so shifted to Sweden style and got their ass kicked, like Czech Republic and Greece. Why did we have consultants from Sweden here advising our government, when they have one of the highest death rates per capita for this in the world and we are ranked at about 40 for deaths per capita? Why was the government aiming for more deaths?

The Czech Republic declared they beat the virus and had a huge session on Charles bridge in Prague to celebrate.

    Thats it.

Its the entitlement culture of the last few decades. The irresponsibility. The lack of a community vision.

"I will do what I want, when I want, and I will complain about any consequences and blame them on someone else"

Like oh my God, did you SEE the crowd in the park today!? Like do they not know there's a pandemic

Never once would that person consider themselves part of the problem. Sick to the back teeth of that attitude.

The nightclubs are jam-packed in Wuhan and parts of Australia. Why is it they can open up everything ?

Because people can obey rules, perhaps? Rules don’t apply to people in this country, bing told to, stay at home is ‘oppression’.

Good point! Haven't heard it being raised. Families maybe but staff I dont know. We look after our residents and they dont wear masks, they hold your hand etc so wont see staff refusing care to any resident.

And don't forget Risteard81 fascism and totalitarianism. He went as far as to ban anybody wearing masks on his property. I think that he has been subsequently banned from Boards.

Yep. I heard this from a reliable source also.
I take it China are developing their own vaccine(s)?

Dont accuse me of saying this is a conspiracy ever again
Okay, I promise not to accuse you of saying it's a conspiracy again if you don't say it's a conspiracy again - fair?

Time for the army to regulate stay at home orders. They should be the only ones visual on the streets these days, I.e if you aren’t in army uniform you shouldn’t be out.

So many people returning to work tomorrow and our Hospitals full . A Governemnt who opened up to keep Pubs and Restaurents happy for Christmas now suggesting we wait and see what happens while insisting we open schools in a week. I wish we had an election on the horizon though I admit the opposition haven't exactually added much to our situation .

I think the reality is, it just shows a large chunk of the population absolutely cannot be trusted.

Got an inch and took about 100 miles. This doesn't go for everybody of course.

No to both questions. Unless the law were to be changed.

The Czech Republic declared they beat the virus and had a huge session on Charles bridge in Prague to celebrate.

Yeah they did, but fùcked up in second half of August and it's still not under the control. Think about 11000 deaths between September and now. Seeing same pattern starting for us at the moment.

Btw you posted exactly the same post while ago, guess you can't stomach Charles bridge session..still.. So I'll tell you the same as I did first time..at least they had that session outside!
