Have a stomach bug at the minute, tried calling my local GP and he is closed. Tried the family GP and also closed. Googled GPs close to me and all closed.

Out of hours number is ringing out.
    Christmas holidays I guess.

    Only in Ireland.

Can only imagine how many people are desperate to get in contact with their GP for Covid.

Trying those online docs, usually lots of spots available. Laya one is 'careoncall'

Medical records are confidential though. You might be okay with disclosing your medical status but others might not be.

That was one of the key points when creating the app, all anonymous. It doesn’t disclose personal information apart from medical status so may be a route for vaccination record as a population.

Why isn’t the city west nightingale hospital not opening up again? Is it lack of staff?

I don't even bother with GPs , too slow and they redirect to a+e anyway

Not blaming them that's the system here

I'd say lack of staff. They might not even be able to get the UK nightingale hospitals up and running because so many staff are sick. Also worrying are the stories about the amount of children who are now filling up wards over there.

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

Its a time now to stay calm. Maybe work on improving at something . Fitness related, weight loss etc or learn a new skill study something of interest.

Living with Covid sure here’s my observations.

It’s been raining all week so wasn’t able to get out on the water or beach, but even with a recent outbreak (53 in NSW this week) we are living with covid.

Wednesday: took the kids to movies to see The Croods, Cinemas are limited to 75% so each family unit had 1 or 2 seat spacing between them. I would say it was near full 75%.

Thursday: We (us & in-laws) usually go to watch the fireworks at the Harbour bridge every year but with with the amount of rain and onshore restrictions we thought not worth effort or fuel putting the boat in the water for the poor atmosphere so wife, kids and I ended up going friends house.

Today: went to Theatre in city to watch the musical Frozen. Had Sushi train at a spot in China town.

All seats were spaced 1.5m and since it’s not that big was at full capacity.

On to the Capitol theatre and like Cinemas restricted to 75%, masks are now mandatory although they not that strict when it comes to kids.

btw before entering anywhere that you likely spend more than 10-15 minutes eg Pub, Restaurant, Cinema etc you scan a QR code and this opens the Service App (this is where your digital Driving License’s, Car registration etc) and you “Check in” then when you leave you “check out” and even if you forget to check out you can nominate a time later. This app has all my details pre populated and I can enter kids names too. Helps with the tracing.

You don’t need to have a Zero Covid, you just need to limit how many possible infections you let into your country so you can actually deal with the problem and hopefully keep on top of it at the moment Australia only let in 6500 travellers per week and quarantine them. We are picking up maybe 30 a day, doesn’t seem that many but there was a cluster that started in Avalon on N beaches a few weeks ago probably from a single case and it caused an outbreak of 159 so it can get out of hand very easily.

The other states closed their borders to NSW bit like water tight doors on a submarine some would say a bit of an over reaction but really who wants to deal with covid and majority of population agrees with this approach.

Testing I believe testing ceiling in Australia is 130K per day, 520K if they pooled them all (which wouldn’t be necessary) but the most I have ever seen is 100,000 in a single day and 60,000 of those were from NSW alone.

There’s always the chance things can go pear shaped but Australia has already manufactured 33m doses of Oxford/AZ they just need to be approved by the TGA once the holidays are over so it’s looking like the end of February but I know they bought the Pfizer but not sure wether the will bother with it or palm it off to the SP islands would make more sense to just vaccinate with single type of vaccine for all.

There was a link posted here referring to the hospital situation with children in the U.K. , Filling up wards with children is fear mongering at its most damaging.

Try your pharmacist for Immodium plus and motillium. I see a poster suggested A&E.. you'd want to be seriously dehydrated.

If you can’t get through to a doctor go to A&E, do not take medical advice form here.

You'd go to A&E with a stomach bug! What other things do you go with out of curiosity?

It may not be a stomach bug. If you’re sick the advice is to seek medical attention.

Shouldn’t be a big issue as long as they just give the vaccines to the next groups on the priority list. Once we keep the rate of vaccinations up these minor issues will resolve themselves.

A pharmacist will be able to advise from a description of the symptoms if they can treat with meds or whether and when to seek medical attention.

That is speculation. I hope this is not coming from NPHET who are not in charge of the vaccination programme.

3 weeks ago I replied to A Citizen Erased on Irish vaccination. I was pointing out that things invariably go wrong. Likewise I was told this was just like the distribution of the annual flu injection. It was roll out here, roll out there, all the jargon.

I mentioned if Covid took off over Christmas our resources would be stretched. A Citizen Erased told me his dad was working in the sector and all plans were fool proof and ready to go.

I don't know whether people know in their hearts plans often don't succeed but can't cope with the outcome. They need constant positive reaffirmation.

Vaccines will be distributed but it's hard to put a timeline on it given what's to come in the immediate future.

The poster listed two products to treat an upset stomach. Are you comfortable with someone offering medical advice here?

Keep trying the out of hours. I needed it yesterday, took an hour but eventually got through and got sorted with a prescription very quickly.

I'm taking the poster at his word.

I'm sure if he felt really sharp pains or something different he'd know.

Out of curiosity what do you work at?

Its coming from the HSE who say vaccinations in a home with an outbreak will be deferred until at least four weeks after the home has symptoms

There are currently 53 outbreaks in nursing homes

Telling someone to go to A&E is not only medical advice, it's likely bad medical advice

Thanks. The picture of Tony Holohan in that article was a bit misleading.

The person said to ask a pharmacist, which is sound, and suggested the meds a pharmacist may advise, the pharmacist may also advise to seek further medical assistance. If the pharmacist says seek further medical advice, I'd be listening.

Apologies if it wasn't but was it you that told me a couple of weeks ago to find another hospital if I need one but it's full of covid patients?

The HSE and Our Government not to mention the EU never had a coherent plan on rolling out the vaccines.

It’s very strange indeed that Politics is run on a reactive level and not proactive.

Fair play, I suggested the poster contact a doctor and if unsuccessful in contacting a doctor go to A&E. Personally I would be ignoring all the medical experts here, but that’s just me.
