I see over on reddit someone was looking at the deaths, in the last 6 months nobody under the age of 65 has died from this disease. Thats pretty surprising to me.

In the past 6 months for deaths:
    15-24: 1
    25-34: 1
    35-44: 2
    45-54: 13
    55-64: 25
A total of 42 under the age of 65

Closing off licences is not going to work. You’ll end up with alcoholics turning up in A&E, dangerous home made alcohol & smuggled products, people drinking hand sanitiser etc etc you’ll also force people to have to deal with people who can be quite violent or aggressive without access to alcohol.

There’s nothing wrong with someone having a few pints at home or a glass of wine or whatever, just don’t recreate a pub and invite your friends!

Think for a moment how insanely stupid that sounds, Niall.

It's bollocks, Niall. Stop lapping it up.

Ya it looks wrong, nobody under 44 has died in the last 6 months or longer and 17 between 44-65 according to CSO website.

Nphet, government HSE has been worried, concerned, next two weeks are crucial since last March. I’m surprised people continued to listen to them as long as they did.

Remind us what it was they have been worried about?
Oh that's right, exactly the situation we are in now due to people being idiots.

    Last January was alright!
By the end of last January it was clear covid was going to be a problem, and there was a fear that people wouldn't take it seriously enough until it was too late. It feels like that again.

Nurses on the UK news talking about how the number of previously healthy 20/30 year olds they're seeing with breathing difficulties is on the up.. And unaffected people over here claiming it's overblown and nothing to worry about.

This thing is going to get worse before it gets better, vaccines or not.

You are about to get hit with the ‘but how many had underlying conditions’ query. It’s the usual follow up when the numbers spouted are shown to be b0llocks.

Where is this data from, it does not match the CSO website, its not far off.

Niall, we've had one of the calmest six months in terms of covid in all of Europe.
We were among the very best countries.

That's all about to dramatically change. We're now among the worst.

The numbers are so tiny, why would you bother. They are actually less than this.

Actually constant repetition causes apathy as I said. People stop listening as we now know. We won’t agree with one another. So I’ll leave it there.

I burnt my hand in the fire because my mother kept telling me it was hot and not to burn myself.

    Clearly her fault.

Have the Epidemiology data for deaths if anyone wants it.

I know, and then it's the died from or with covid crowd chiming in.

    See tables 2 and 2A.

Good for you, but you weren't safe. If you did all that you might well have the virus.

Did you meet up with anyone elderly?

    What?

Do you expect him to put a condom on when he's eating and drinking?

Like with most things, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Did the Government open too early? Yes (that’s not me being wise after the event. I, and many others, said it at the time)

Did they open too much? Yes, after being advised not to.

Did a cohort of people breach guidelines? Yes, and they are to blame for their actions. No one else.

Was the cohort who decided to have a ‘normal’ christmas higher than anyone could possibly have imagined? Clearly.

I’m sure I’ll be hit with ‘why do I need someone to blame’. Well if everyone did what was asked of them we wouldn’t have increased our case count 10 fold in a month. People can be unlucky and catch it (through work, shared accommodation, from someone you have to care for etc) but if you have 30+ close contacts, are socialising when waiting on a test result or have symptoms then you aren’t unlucky, you are (in part) responsible for the mess we find ourselves in.

This needs to be said and said again. The population and not the government are largely responsible for this mess.

So the most restrictive nation since last March is now the worst in terms of cases?

Perhaps unnecessary suppression and relaxation causes these issues?

If only we relaxed in line with Europe

No the virus is primarily responsible.

It thrives on basic human requirements

After that perhaps the guy who constructed the restrictions breaking them while playing golf in the west

    Why?
Does Covid know if you’d had a drink?

Stop the house parties and large gatherings etc.,

Thats all well and good when what you are describing is consistent, but its not. You can't use the same language to describe 10, 50, 200 or 1700 cases. Every week he is concerned no matter how good or bad cases or hospitalisations are.
By all means refine and repeat but when you don't differentiate your concern level people will ultimately switch off and not take notice anymore.

Ok, so work hindsight we know it can range from 10 to 1700 cases a day.
What was the correct language to use when it was at 200?

Of course nphet are going to be concerned when it rises, what would you expect them to say?
"Carry on everyone, we are still not the worst in the world"?

If they are so basic (and I'd strongly argue that) how are so many people surviving without them?

    I hope so.

That's where all of this is heading. Me, and the rest of us lockdown-loving psychopaths, are really just trying to get you all to apply condoms before a meal.

I thought people could social bubble together.

It is a support bubble https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/3516d-support-bubbles/

If you want support pick up the phone, just keep people not from the same household the fûck away from each other.
