I'm pretty chilled out and haven't got the virus or given it to anyone else. Just relax and keep doing the right things, no need to panic.

    Who exactly is panicking?
    Strange.

Are they releasing numbers today? This is very late

Expectation is for a large number. Waiting until everyone is drunk!

Contact tracing works when the public is also co-operating. When the public is taking the piss and doing as they please, the arse falls out of it.

    Not to mention people who:
    - dont answer their phone to contact tracers
    - dont look for a test with symptoms
    - dont restrict their movements waiting for a test
    - dont turn up for their test
    - dont restrict their movements waiting for a result

On top of those who dont heed the restrictions in the first place

This refusal to lock down correctly is going to cost a lot of lives .

    What’s a correct lockdown?

Do the case numbers reported even matter at this point. They are basically just reporting they have maxed out capacity when anything close to 2k is reported.

    9k+ to be announced
    Prof Philip Nolan:

“A very large volume of positive tests in recent days means there is a delay in formal reporting.

In excess of *9,000* additional new cases will be reported over the coming days.”

Arnt capable... or are not arsed anymore.

The easiest way to avoid getting covid... keep away from people outside of your house / appartment...

Im shopping at quiet times... i go into any shop knowing what i want and where i get it..i dont 'browse'... im doing browsing online.

Im staying distant in Q's and when actually shopping...respecting other peoples space and health.. being careful with mine

I was in a lift in a shopping center shortly before xmas and had pressed the button to head to the carpark... the doors started to close but some fùckwit with her trolly running towards me.. " sorry sorry can you "... no i cant... especially with your mask down around your neck you dope....

I'm shopping at quite times too but to be fair there is very high mask compliance amongst the regular customers in my local SuperValu.

The staff are a different story though. I've seen them not wearing one at all, and they often don't cover their nose. A few days ago the manager took off his mask to shout across to a staff member down the aisle with a few customers very close to him.

Case numbers have departed from reality now and have become meaningless.

Even the swab data is not capturing the true story.

    1754..

So basically its somewhere between 1700 and 7000 if ye include/exclude back log, duplicates and dentifications

Maybe the software can only count to <= 2000?

How accurate are the death figures.
Is there backlogs with the death figures or are they fairly accurate

Too many people not aware of swabs will think the numbers are not that bad.

Inconsiderate selfish idiots who don't give a damn about the restrictions are also costing a lot of lives.

Can they just get the mobile companies to programme

COVID TRACING as the caller ID on those calls. I guarantee you it’s mostly people who don’t answer calls from unknown or unfamiliar numbers who aren’t answering.

It’s high time the mobile networks got on board with the effort and offered some practical solutions. They have things like text alerts, emergency broadcast message capabilities for lockdown information and so on and none of this is being used.

Maybe they should be back to paper and pencils for the next few weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,511 ✭✭✭harr

Numbers and backlog seem out of control now can’t even keep up with how many positive cases they have.
It seems the system is at breaking point at this stage.
A lot of positive numbers and cases will now fall through the cracks with Community transmissions many multiple of official numbers.
Two relations of mine with symptoms today told to just isolate and that they might not even get called for a test because of the huge volume of people going for tests.
The only important numbers for the next month are ICU and hospital admissions ..

It most certainly was not fine over a week ago. In fact 3 weeks ago it was obvious this would happen and a complete hard lock down should have been implemented.
