A record 60 hospital admissions yesterday.

Another 52 so far today. 491 now in hospital.

Unsustainable. At this rate we are over run by next week.

Do you think repeating the same mantra everyday is constructive?

Well ignoring the public health advice certainly isn't.

A friend of mine works in a hospital, her relief is a bottle of wine on her days off, should she denied this to make you feel better?

Yes. Aside from Covid, people need to stop this kind of binge drinking. It's a bigger health issue than Covid.

Looking like that by the end of today unfortunately, 4 days later. :(

Paul Reid on the radio pleading with people to be responsible. What a sorry state of affairs.

The shameful action of people meeting up over the Xmas period failing to use their common sense had fcuked us all.

Was it not in the guidance that three households could meet?

Or are you directing you ire for mixing by greater than three households?

Yes. People don't seem to be getting it through their thick skulls.

Treat them like the children that they are acting like.

Would you give over with the over dramatising, some of us have to gonna into work on Monday. While our jobs last that is as even the tech sector is going to be hit hard if no sales come in January. The working from home market must be catered for by now.

Majority haven’t, so perhaps find a different drum to bang. Pontificating like you have been for the last several days gets very old fast.

I may sound stupid here, but the restrictions say work from home, unless you're an essential worker who has to physically go to work. I understand that, I travel to work because I'm deemed essential.

But if non-essential retail is closed, their staff obviously aren't essential? Yet they have to travel to work to be there for click and collect, which is not essential?

Surely this just means absolutely all retail workers are now deemed essential, because they're going to work to sort click and collect orders?

I read your comments attacking others repeatedly on another thread. For a frontline worker , working the hours you claim you are you have an amazing amount of free time to be on Boards .

People, particularly young people are going to party tonight (not me I might add). Would have been better to leave the restaurants open, at least it was a controlled environment. For the most part the younger Audience has tuned out and all the wringing of hands on the world won’t change that now.

He said bottle of wine on her 'days off' (plural), not drinking a bottle in a single day.

Banning alcohol to tackle binge drinking lol

Will our new healthist state outlaw gluttony as well? Put down that toberlerone you criminal

Does it matter in the greater scheme of things? An employer has safety obligations in respect to any employees who are brought in + the objective is to reduce movements by the public more generally + better click and collect or delivery from an Irish store than purchases from a Chinese supplier on Amazon.

I would think because click and collect is allowed there is an allowance for some staff to work on that basis. Wouldn't think it would be as many as if shops were open fully. Plus there won't be same numbers of people allowed inside. And of course not all shops have the facility to enable click and collect.

He can’t win, if he changes the message he would be accused of confusing the issue.

Simple advice repeated has more chance of working that trying to appeal to different people in different ways.

You're not going to have a huge tea party though?

Loud music parties and commotion should be enough to spread the virus. It's the social responsibility that people often seem to balk at. YOLO attitude :pac:

I read that the UK are going to widen the gap between first and second doses of both the Oxford and Pfizer vaccines, to try to give at least one dose to more people

TBF his messaging and that of many of the HSE voices has been clear and communicated well. Appealing to people's better angels is always a better human approach anyway.

5km rule starting now or when?

Started midnight yesterday. Though non essential retail will still be open until 31st and few more relaxations until 31st.
This is the advice in the IT today.

I wasn't so much attacking people as defending myself from being called a liar, kinda like you are doing now.

FYI i was working yesterday morning and i'll be heading in for an evening shift shortly. They do give me a bit of time off every now and then, surely much to the annoyance of people like you who think people like me are expendable automatons who exist solely to work.

Oxford is in accordance with manufacturers advice that they expect it to give a better efficacy. Pfizer is against manufacturers advice.

Considering there is a small cohort of people on this thread he is repeating the same mantra to the same people day in day out. This forum does not have have the widespread public appeal that you think it may have.

It's the people mixing that's the problem. Blame them. I think banning alcohol is a sensible measure to help suppress this damn thing.

I know an A&E nurse and she said banning alcohol would be a nightmare with alcoholics presenting from withdrawals.

And it's because people don't use their common sense that they should ban alcohol. But sure I'm away with the fairies for even suggesting it. Stupid idea along with zero covid.

UK nearing 1 million people vaccinated. Put politics to one side and look and compare objectively. Clearly impossible for lots of people.

    How many have we vaccinated?

You don’t have to travel. You can stay at home, get groceries delivered, exercise within 5km or run on the spot in your own home, or perhaps not at all.

I’ m not calling you a liar I just found it odd despite the hours you claim you are working that you have so much time to spend on boards. I also found it odd as a frontline worker you had to lookup what HCP meant. If you feel you are being called a liar or are expandable that’s entirely down to you. Any response I have seen directed at your comments make no such claims.
