Ah yes, not the people out filming them. Funny they don’t appear to be ‘terrified of catching Covid’ as they seem to make it their business to show up at busy places to film people. Pathetic behaviour.

1 person filming a crowd of people breaking restrictions but the 1 person is the one in the wrong?

That about sums up most people's attitudes to this pandemic at this stage. A nation of mindless consumers.

Yeah hospitals are very concerning. Spare a thought for those that’ll work in them in the coming weeks. Listen to an icu doctor in london. If the variant really is more transmissible then hospitals and ICU will come under severe pressure.

It surely must be time to have the army on the streets picking people up no questions asked when non complying with restrictions.

On the streets, outside, in the open air. People really do get annoyed at the wrong stuff on here.

I sincerely hope they aren't waiting for the US trial results (some reports saying April!)

Prediction: If the EU is still twiddling its thumbs on the AstraZeneca vaccine come the end of January, lots of countries will break away from 'EMA solidarity' and make their own calls.

The problem with Oxford Astra Zenaca is that plan a pretty much failed.

Plan a was take a dose wait 3 weeks and take a second dose. 62% efficacy. All well and good but it doesn't compare to Pfizer and Moderna so if sits on the sidelines.

Plan b and c have good data but tiny numbers involved in the trials.

Plan b being half dose wait 3 weeks full dose.

Plan c being full dose wait 12 weeks full dose.

So theres basically a choice between 3 different plans with Oxford and two of them don't have enough data to approve it.

It is what it is but I can understand conservatism.

At the same time I can imagine someone putting pressure on EMA to approve.

Yeah he said 10 days from infection to ICU on average so we haven’t even seen the effects of the Xmas yet.

Frightening, really. I don't listen to news etc so maybe I am just surprised by the severity of his message because of that. ''I'm watching whole families getting wiped out here''..

I think they are well covered with "show us more data" and it's really down to Oxford to sort that out.

Hospital numbers are accelerating. They said in the briefing what we are seeing in all of the indicators is actually beyond the worse case scenario.

Does anyone know if off licences remain open in these new restrictions?

I think if they're serious to suppress this virus and it happens with people mixing in homes, they need to make these gatherings dry.

Yeah that was shocking or the fact he is getting called back in for a pregnant woman this morning who took a turn like so many others. He isn't some attention seeking doctor either. Has twitter, hasn't posted since may. He just sounds fed up with the effect of people's behaviour. Was clear to make it apolitical and gave examples of how we are all contributing to the problem they have to deal with.

Off licences are open as are supermarkets selling alcohol. Why penalize the majority of people who are not mixing with other households during this difficult time?

Effectively prohibiting it wouldn't work! Even if it's only tea parties, it's the gatherings that do it!

It's the people mixing that's the problem. Blame them. I think banning alcohol is a sensible measure to help suppress this damn thing.

How many alcoholics do you want turning up at A & E when going through withdrawals?

You may think this isn't an issue but unfortunately it is.

Some will say sure just send them on their way with a prescription for Librium but it's still putting unnecessary pressure on the system.

Agree- The first lockdown and a good portion of the second was enforced through hearts and minds. People agreed with the need to minimise social interactions.

A friend of mine works in a hospital, her relief is a bottle of wine on her days off, should she denied this to make you feel better?

Paul Reid on the radio pleading with people to be responsible. What a sorry state of affairs.

The shameful action of people meeting up over the Xmas period failing to use their common sense had fcuked us all.

Do you think repeating the same mantra everyday is constructive?
