    We don't have the type of policing in this country to enforce a curfew imo. It's a more hands off approach as opposed to say France or Spain where they're more aggressive and 'pro-active'

    Partly that, and also I think to stop people from high-virus areas travelling and the contact tracers having to deal with cases popping up everywhere.

    I think also when we look back on this pandemic we'll have made a mistake stopping people travelling to Glendalough/the beach, and should have been encouraging people to get outdoors.

    Go hard or go home! That’s my take now! Full month of January closed! Everything except food and fuel retail! No travel outside your town unless essential worker or for health reasons and food/fuel
    I’m one of those who’s usually against level 5 but at this stage with the vaccines rolling out, best way to get this off to a good start is to stop and head for and I hate the term zero COVID!!

    Nope, AGS already working a 12hour roster.Prolonged operational tempo is a problem.

    The issue was every eejit crowded into the one place all at once increasing number of contacts.

    I know it’s not but only way to keep it as low as possible and shut everything just 4/5 weeks and get it low and then ease off the pedal. Don’t get me wrong the trio of Staines, Ryan and Killeen, I’ll never understand their nonsense as they’ll keep harping on for months! I just think 4/5 weeks and that will be the very last time we use the term lockdown!

    Its never just a few weeks though. You might get 4 months of confinement for your trouble.

    Wasn't there war when loads of Dubs tried to get down to their holiday homes in Clare or something too?

    Nah sure full circle, Paddy's Day and Cheltenham will be on the horizon. I'd expect a couple more rolling lockdowns until the summer at the earliest.

    Eventually the cases that we're at now are going to drop in the next weeks to come less socialising is happening already with the christmas buzz over. Be better to stay where we're at see of the restrictions here is working it won't show for a few weeks.

    Only problem is the 2/300 crossings with a regime that doesn’t give a f##k in the six counties. Staines I can tolerate the other two are idiots.

    Tbf theres enough nut jobs down here that would agree with Arlene that would keep Covid numbers up even without her help.

    It still doesn’t stop a few “experts “ advocating it though. Although why that fool Ryan still gets publicity is a mystery to me. Has he a family member working in RTE?

    I have been hugely in favour of keeping schools open as I seen how the closure affected the smallies, they really missed it and were too young for online learning.
    With how figures are going to rise in the coming days it has to be worth keeping them closed even for two weeks longer to let the spread subside and take something off Easter and Summer holidays.
