Honestly this quiet build up so far this year is probably doing the lads a massive favour

Only came across this lad today

I suspect he has to be a mate of Shoe The Donkey. Very personal attacks on pretty much everyone on the county board.

Ive been following him for a long time but he doesn't get much traction and still have no idea what the issue with Butler and the Belmullet car is. He's treading dangerous waters surely?

Some of it is as libellous as you’re going to get, not worth repeating

There seems to be a counter account then, Rodger McGowan

    It’s bizarre stuff

Rodger McGowan - happens to have the same name as the donkey's grandfather...

The interaction between them a few weeks ago was hilarious. Shoe the Donkey also threatened the Rodger account with legal letters

Has to be, Stephen played the full game so shouldn't be doing runs after the game

Will there be any personnel changes in the backs, the decision making of both corner backs was woeful against Tipp, can't afford that with Kilkenny looping hand passes in over the corner backs hed and getting them to turn

While I doubt either Keegan or Chrissy came away from Sunday thinking they had a great game, they did keep both their men scoreless from play as far as I know.

Yeah but they failed to lay a hand on the umpteen fellas who ran through the centre, standing beside their man will hardly work v dublin

Where has the ferocious mayo tackling of ca 2016/17 gone, chris barrett had about 5 turnovers v dublin in 1 all ireland, the efforts on Brian Fox at the weekend were abysmal

That was an absolutely exceptional performance though. Its not the type of performance anybody could replicate every time they go out on the pitch.

Interestingly, Mayo seem to be getting more scores from turnovers this year than other teams.

Chris was CB in 2017. More likely to attempt turnovers further out the field, less so when confined to the fullback line like he is this year when you have to play a little tighter and cuter.

No, Mayo were know for their disposseions i just picked 1 example. Boyle et al were excellent at it

Yeah, Boyle, Keegan, Higgins, Barrett. Perhaps even Vaughan & Cunniffe all quality defenders and brilliant tacklers. Still think it would be interesting to compare the numbers of turnovers they won with those lads compared to the no. of turnovers won by Mayo this year. Maybe it's the forwards who have improved in that regard. I might watch some matches back to compare.

Our rate of turnovers is directly related to our lack of primary possession. This is a huge problem. We conceded 60% of our own kickouts against Tipperary apparently. That is not remotely good enough. Dublin will do a relentless high press and will not be turned over as easily. I am having awful visions of barely being able to keep the ball kicked out to them, to be brutally honest. And my other fear is that they will keep winning in the middle and just do their keep ball bit time and again to squeeze the life out of the game, while our lads are huffing and puffing, chasing shadows and trying to get the ball back. Trying to win turnovers all the time is energy sapping and even more so against a team with the sheer number of athletes that Dublin have.

Yeah, I fear we'll have a repeat of the 2017 League game again unless we sort something out on the kickouts.
on Turnovers, I think Eamon Donoghue did an article on our turnovers, and the most were in our forward line with Cillian and Aido the top 2 for turnovers on the team.

That's exactly how it could turn out.
We don't have a midfield designed to dominate in the air and win primary possession from kick outs.
And at the same time our kicks outs are a heart stopping experience every time the ball leaves the tee.
Against a team like Dublin that is a a nightmare scenario, this could be done and dusted in a matter of minutes, really it could.
It could be 2004 and 2006 all over again.

I have no doubt that the players and the management are working really hard and have been working really hard for a long time to come up with a game plan that does not allow the above to transpire.

It would be crazy if they weren't and just relying on their instincts to get through.

Surely, please god, there is a plan for kickout's for the final. Something different or just a plan b if a blitz comes like the start of the second half in last years semi final.
They have to have looked at that game and have a plan to counteract that.

I genuinely think it will be. And I don't like saying that and would be only delighted to eat humble pie, but it's how I feel. I did not feel happy after that game on Sunday. What I watched didn't fill me with any confidence at all, it actually just left me with more questions, tbh.

Like you say, I'm sure they're doing what they can with what they have and I believe the 15 on the pitch are the 15 Horan believes have the best chance of doing the job. I think the turnovers are probably a huge coaching focus because management has recognised the problems at midfield and with the kickout, but I just don't think any team has a prayer against Dublin without a functioning midfield with mobile high fielders and a good kickout.

You just need to be winning your fair share of primary possession to have any chance against Dublin, imo. At present we're not even breaking even.

Why doesn't Carr get a run? (sorry for annoying outsider questions)

Ye definitely need a blocker down the middle

To be fair to Carr he would need to displace Cillian, Aido and Tommy Conroy which would be a tall order. He did get a few appearances in the Championship but he didn't do as well as he should have with the opportunities he had. I reckon his only chance of getting a game Saturday week is if one of the above 3 get injured. He's a great option to have off the bench all the same.

We're sorely missing the likes of Seamie and Tom in the middle, that's for certain.

I think/hope it'll be close, our press is the most intense of any team I've seen so far this year, against Galway we gave away a couple of half chances for goal but we weren't as agressive with the press. I think they went out to kill off Tipperary early, they nearly got caught but got away with it. I think we'll stay in it.

I think we are missing what Seamie and Tom did for us in the past. But I don't think they can do that for us anymore? Maybe that's harsh but i haven't seen Seamie in a while and Tom hasn't got back to what he was yet anyway.

The fact that Tom got game time suggested to me that he is in the line up for coming on against Dublin. Hopefully the game is not over when he is introduced like last year.

He has been picking up niggles and missing bits of training. I'd be confident if he is showing form in training that he will see pitch time in the final. He is so direct.
