PressRun wrote: » Our rate of turnovers is directly related to our lack of primary possession. This is a huge problem. We conceded 60% of our own kickouts against Tipperary apparently. That is not remotely good enough. Dublin will do a relentless high press and will not be turned over as easily. I am having awful visions of barely being able to keep the ball kicked out to them, to be brutally honest. And my other fear is that they will keep winning in the middle and just do their keep ball bit time and again to squeeze the life out of the game, while our lads are huffing and puffing, chasing shadows and trying to get the ball back. Trying to win turnovers all the time is energy sapping and even more so against a team with the sheer number of athletes that Dublin have.
Fr Tod Umptious wrote: » That's exactly how it could turn out. We don't have a midfield designed to dominate in the air and win primary possession from kick outs. And at the same time our kicks outs are a heart stopping experience every time the ball leaves the tee. Against a team like Dublin that is a a nightmare scenario, this could be done and dusted in a matter of minutes, really it could. It could be 2004 and 2006 all over again. I have no doubt that the players and the management are working really hard and have been working really hard for a long time to come up with a game plan that does not allow the above to transpire. It would be crazy if they weren't and just relying on their instincts to get through.

PressRun wrote: » I genuinely think it will be. And I don't like saying that and would be only delighted to eat humble pie, but it's how I feel. I did not feel happy after that game on Sunday. What I watched didn't fill me with any confidence at all, it actually just left me with more questions, tbh. Like you say, I'm sure they're doing what they can with what they have and I believe the 15 on the pitch are the 15 Horan believes have the best chance of doing the job. I think the turnovers are probably a huge coaching focus because management has recognised the problems at midfield and with the kickout, but I just don't think any team has a prayer against Dublin without a functioning midfield with mobile high fielders and a good kickout. You just need to be winning your fair share of primary possession to have any chance against Dublin, imo. At present we're not even breaking even.

He did get a few appearances in the Championship but he didn't do as well as he should have with the opportunities he had. I reckon his only chance of getting a game Saturday week is if one of the above 3 get injured. He's a great option to have off the bench all the same. We're sorely missing the likes of Seamie and Tom in the middle, that's for certain.
