Tony is concerned because the “worry index” in the population is dropping.

Can somebody please get this senile fool off the telly? He’s lost the plot.

Me too for New Years, just hope we can leave our own counties.

Well definitely for 2 weeks, yes some nice packages around for New Year’s Eve. Have to book somewhere for that night / evening aswell .

Tony H and his merry men are the reason I no longer watch news programmes. I should thank him really, life is much better without speculative "news" all day long.

I think i stopped watching rte news in the past two years. The amount of corruption and propaganda broadcast every evening then a repeat of the same sh*t at 9pm.

Breaking: Chairman Holohan has now officially lost his mind, after he is "concerned" that people aren't "afraid" of the virus anymore and warns that the cases could rise again tomorrow!

    LOL!

This guy needs the men in white coats to come and rescue him right now. He is now literally borderline insane. People aren't afraid of his bull**** anymore!

I'm afraid of Holohan more then the virus.

Wow what a comeback there. No, that’s clearly Tony and Nphets baby- no one could possibly compete with these loons.
How will I ever find the will to post ever again?

Lads no one wants restrictions to be lifted more than me, but how can anyone realistically think that this government is suddenly going to develop a backbone and actually make a brave decision. Its been 9 months of total confusion, incompetence, in fact near chaos at times. What gives ye the impression that this is going to magically change this week? They will come up with some convulted nonsense which means retail will reopen, Wet pubs wont and back to the outdoor dining for the rest. The same sort of nonsensical gibberish that has happened since the beginning unfortunately

Maybe government TDs are getting afraid of losing their seats.

Nothing really scares them more than that.

This is just a chart too far at this stage. Christmas is supposed to be fun, about family, eating everything in front of you and being happy and he lands this on the public!! He’s had his time!!

Would you consider the R number important at all. If you go from 5 cases per 100,000 one week to 99 cases per 100,000 two weeks later would you not say let's shut things down before waiting for it to go over 100 per 100,000 because obviously the growth is out of control.

These x per 100k suggestions always look odd to me. Rate of growth and movement is more important imo.

Possibly, yes. It would have to be transparent though, so R plus cars per 100k makes sense. If you have a low number of cases then even if R is starting to rise up you have time to react. Part of the problem is clarity with what comes next, and when wee likely to be locked down, so if there were clear rules that trigger decisions/actions it would be better for everyone.

And some people called me crazy on here for suggesting that the government/NPHET were deliberately spreading fear to get compliance.

They are even reporting on it!

Bu then you got to stop people from travelling from county to county, no way to enforce that

Level 2 to level 2 coukd travel. Level 3 and above there is no intercounty anyway. Spot checks are still needed as they are today for essential workers vs people chancing it so nothing changes there in terms of enforcement.

NPHET can fold that chart four ways and shove it up a dark orifice. Resorting to such cheap tactics of desperation to keep the general public in thrall. We ain't buying it no more sunshine, the politicians are finally listening to our message. You don't represent our best interests, the ballot box will sort you out. As for Tony, his slide into irrelevance has begun in earnest. Delighted for the insufferable pr1ck.

That would be the allegation. I don't think many would be surprised.

You’d really want to know what is going through his head when he comes out with this crap. Car parks full, canteens full, pubs are at fault even though they’re closed and now theres a new NPHET game show brought to you by the now infamous CMO DR Tony Holahan It’s the WHEEL OF WORRY!!!

I hope to god you are right, unfortunately they will delay an election for years. Since FF and FG are now basically the same party they will be in no rush to go to the polls

"RTE meets Gardai over inquiry into retirement gathering" that's up on the news app.

Ah seriously wtf is going on.

    It’s pantomime stuff.
Gardai have enough to be doing than investigating the “crime” of some newsreaders who were standing too close together for a photo.

Btw , I’m torn on this as I’ve zero respect for the zombies at Montrose however it’s just a B.S nothing story.

Staines on Newstalk still in an Australian style “zero” Covid cuckoo land. Absolutely tone deaf pathetic rubbish
    - apparently businesses in his town “are very worried about a third lockdown”.

Well done R Doherty- lockdowns aren’t working -“no more lockdowns”. Amen

I mean what the actual .......

Happy Christmas everybody, now remember, ask yourself the question are you worried enough?? If not you need to ramp up that worry and stress!!

    Seasons greetings everyone!

Covid has been a lightning rod for every weird hypochondriac and control freak out there. Little wonder they’ve created a new religion of it
