Ah ok, you're one of those.

If we said bows and arrows, i'm sure you'd have trained under Sir Robin of Loxley.

If someone went to Tenerife, you'd have been to Elevenerife.

    G'luck

This is pure brilliance. Bravo sir, bravo

The point the OP raises is valid, so I'm happy to address it.

99% of arrests are boring and uneventful. It's always the non-compliant ones that make for exciting telly.

It's as simple as this, if you resist, the Gardaí call in colleagues. If you're a physically big, strong, alpha-bro, then they'll just call in as many as it takes to bring you under control. At some point, you'll then become a danger to the public too, so Lassie might make a guest appearance if you really want to get hurt.

In short, as many as it takes.

    Including Lassie.

Lassie's useless. Lassie just runs for help.

Now stick Cujo in there and we'll see that happens. Won't need anywhere near as many guards.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

it is possible for anyone to take out anyone else - using the correct tools/techniques, the reason there are weight categories in fight clubs like UFC is to make it more appealing to the audience, "two evenly matched looking people - who will be the victor"

have a quick search for bruce lee and watch some of the opponents and how he was able to disable them.

no matter what you've heard before, SIZE DOESNT MATTER !! lol

Mate I'm not sure if you ever realised but most cops aren't bruce lee :D

Size matters. End off, anything else is nonsense. Now that'snot to say there are not other factors at play, there are.

First they came for the socialists...

I'm 6ft6 and can squat around 700lb, bench 415 and deadlift 800lb wondering how they could take me out since I could lift up the whole group of them.
I'm aware. I'm a brown belt in jiu jiutsu too. I've started before going into the weightlifting game.
Ah ok, you're one of those.

    I'd say he's hung like a McDonald's chip

Bob Sapp was basically a novice kick boxer when he twice defeated one of the greatest of all time in Ernesto Hoost. Sapp was about 180kg at the time and simply manhandled the fecker, so yes size does matter at a certain point.

They would go for the collar bone first - easy to break and incapacitates easy, if your still flouncing about, it's your kneecaps next.
They have seen plenty of 6'6" blokes

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,943 ✭✭✭Padre_Pio

I wonder what's the tactics that they use. In the USA you'd just get executed with a pistol. I'm 6ft6 and can squat around 700lb, bench 415 and deadlift 800lb wondering how they could take me out since I could lift up the whole group of them.

There would be three or four of them with batons and tasers.

They'd just crack you over the head from behind.
Kneecaps are also a good one, or behind the knee so you fall over.

Wonder if OP is getting off to these replies...

These 2 things are correlated. All fighters lift weights. Not all weighlifters train in martial arts.

For Goodness Sake! You missed what will surely be the best post of the thread...

    "......Elevenerife"

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,517 ✭✭✭✭banie01

Aye, but can ya do all that with a taser up your hole?

Nobody tells you that there's a good chance that you will piss yourself when you get tazered!
Thats a secret the elite keep away from us plebs ;)

On the subject of arresting strong lads, like the "specimen" OP....
Don't kid yourself, the Gardaí are like a well drilled hunting pack when it comes to assholes!
They will use joint lock and control tactics, cuff you and **** you into the back of a wagon fairly quickly.

*I've been that asshole :o and had the hand surgery afterwards to fix the damage I caused myself by being an asshole and resisting a very lawful arrest ;)
I'm not quite the man mountain the OP is!
But I am 6'5", strong and to top it off have years of doorwork experience behind me...
They still took me down without resorting to anything other than physical restraint.
The Gardaí do no not get enough recognition for their de-escalation and control skills.
    Not everything needs a bullet...
Sometimes an asp is enough :pac:

and most people being arrested aren't 6'6 and 700000lbs of pure muscle and trained in martial arts like the OP says they are.

but when has logic and facts gotten a "thanks" in after hours ?

And what do you do when you're not angry, Mr Banner?

You post just like Mr F; it's uncanny. Shame you never met him. He was 1ft6 shorter than you and was also a great character.

Tasers are ineffective, especially when wearing layers of clothes. Plenty of videos about it.

Not when connected to your eyeballs!!

Both were sanctioned kickboxing bouts in the K1 world Grand Prix, prior to which he had 6 months kickboxing training.

I'd imagine, you being a law abiding member of society, they'd say "I'm arresting you under section tumpty tump of the blah blah act, please get into the car"

Then you'd say "Surely there must be some mistake, I'm a law abiding member of society, but yes, let's discuss this at the nearest garda station, ideally in the presence of a solicitor".

Then you might say "Would you mind moving the seat forward a little please? I'm 6'6", and a bit squashed in here?"

At some point, depending on their standard operating procedures, they might ask you for your name and address, and also to put out your hands for handcuffs, which you'd duly comply with.

Can't speak for garda cars, but cop cars in the states have fixed seats that can't be moved forward. They're designed to be hard wearing, easily cleanable and uncomfortable.

I'm only 6'1 and I was squirming (and I was only getting a lift because I was lost)

Honestly, if a situation occurred where I was getting arrested, I'd kick up enough of a stink for the public order van......

And then someone punched Sapp in the face and found out he didn't like that so Sapp spent the rest of his career as a punchbag
