Just reinforcing the GAA lad monoculture.

I don't know why the need for an ad. Perhaps they could use some of the money spent on ads to, oh I don't know, actually pay their players?

I think the ad is from the sponsors not the GAA. Suppose we should all start supporting our own Soccer leagues so that players can earn a living.

Argh! McDonald's dubbing Irish accents over English accents is so pointless and irritating when I've already seen it loads of times on UK TV

McDonalds taking the cheap option , If you look closely during the advert you will see a red postal box , so its a UK original commercial, just a cheap attempt to covert/dubbed over with Irish accent and reg plate on car.

Speaking of GAA ads, the ad for the minor championships, with the boggery accent. "Struck down in your prime, no face to face, or chance of a shift yada yada....Seems to follow a similar theme with all Gaa that there is nothing more important in life then "de GA".... obsession with it in this country is worse than religion, and don't dare question it.

Many different types play the GAA, but the ads always showcase the haunted and savage type. Those that have a look on them like they're about to be shipped off to a bloody warzone, but will settle for a 30 man brawl in Listowel. Sure what harm, they're only our future Guards and politicians.

Or the previous one with the two "Irish" girls back "home" at Stansted airport from a sun holiday.

Already the arty farty fragrance ads.
Fück off with your "Happy Holidays".
    Perfume ad checklist:

    1. Handsome model and / or celebrity.. CHECK!
    2. Said model and / or celebrity floating through the air aimlessly towards another handsome model and / or celebrity.. CHECK!
    3. Whispering.. CHECK!
    4. Music that drowns any sort of dialogue.. CHECK!

If after 3 seconds of an ad, you don't know what they're advertising.. 98% of the time it's perfume.

In saying that, I don't envy people who need to come up with advert ideas for perfumes. They may as well just have Chris Hemsworth walk up to screen and say "Buy this fragrance and people will want to f*ck you!"

Ray D'Arcy with his "WOO HOO!"..."YIPPEE!" superhero costume from Wish.com.

Hopefully it'll be gone soon enough.

It has to be the one with the girl wandering around forlornly murdering message in a bottle. Don’t even know what it’s for but I dive for the remote every time I hear it. Absolutely brutal.

Eirgrid mentioned it a while back just couldn't make out the song she was mumbling.

That Christmas Lisa one, jaysus! Just awful. Is that Neil Delamare voicing it?

I've noticed some of the new Christmas ads have no Christmassy stuff in them at all.
No trees or decorations etc. Snow is the only thing they show. They mustn't want to alienate any non-christians or something.

The new one from Tena with the menopausal wan in the gym and her secret weapon down her pants....no thank you....

Trees and decorations aren’t Christian in their origin either way so its probably not that.

Those massive budget Christmas ads are a load of toss anyway.

Well it is only the 9th of November.

By the 9th of December we'll be knee deep in christmas trees and talking christmas puddings.

The food porn ads and imitations of the Night Before Christmas ads have started already. Not to mention that lamest of Xmas mascots, Kevin the flipping Carrot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,724 ✭✭✭✭Ol' Donie

The thing about Christmas ads is...they're all the same. It's just cliched bùll**** about supermarkets who all sell identical stuff for the same price, or perfume ads that are all the same bunch of models doing slightly surreal stuff, or God help us, moblie companies trying to be either funny or pretend they are in some way responsible for families enjoying Christmas together.

Just, jesus, it's all such tiresome bullshìt.

I've just seen the most bizarre ad I've ever seen featuring a young woman in a pink slip dancing underwater then drowning. Apparently it's for beer with an environmentally aware message. I could be wrong.

That's what I thought it was going to be but Beer was definitely mentioned. And Barcelona.

Am I the only one who keeps getting the 'PLEASE SAVE MY CHILD' adverts before every second or third youtube video?

Horribly sad videos of children with life threatening/ terminal illnesses who practically demand money to fund an operation.

I'm not cold and heartless-but in the last few months, I've gotten 5 or 6 videos for six different kids.
(Illnesses range from stomach cancer, brain cancer, Condition where the child has bone joint issues that cause them pain, leukemia, and many other conditions).

All the videos have the same editing, as well as the same sense of urgency ('My child is dying and I can't save them').

I'm not Bill Gates-I can't pay for every child with a very serious condition.

They're actually making YouTube unwatchable I find myself using it less and less as it's becoming like American TV.

Saw an ad this morning from AIB I think. It was something about climate change and how we should do more. The actress on the ad has such a dull boring voice it almost put me to sleep. Surely that’s not the reaction they want.

    Perfume ad with Natalie Portman.
She roars at some lad, shoves him, throws a bunch of flowers at him. Then she scowls straight into the camera and snarls 'and you? what will you do for love?'
I tell you what I would do 'love'. I would run away from you as fast as I could, you scary mentallist.

WaterWipes baby stuff - more black kids than white kids; that “internet matters” ad with the ubiquitous mixed race couple(s) - we’ve gone beyond inclusivity at this point.

Shouldn't adverts reflect the population makeup unless you are targeting a specific group.

Wound up by black babies and gay people? There's a thread or two on the current affairs forum where you'll find some like minded people.
