I’d like to offer my two pence on this. I’m the principal of a primary school. I received the email late Thursday telling us many items from the approved list had been discontinued and we’re advised to purchase new items from the new approved supplies. I called the new approved supplies all of which are in Dublin now with one in Monaghan. I called each supplier some answered some didn’t. They had the supplies but none were able to get them to Cork in time for Monday. They said I could collect , driving Cork to Dublin and back again during midterm wasn’t exactly in my plan but I said I would anyway. Thankfully a neighbour of mine came to save the day, he works in an essential service and will be delivering to Dublin tomorrow so is going to pick up the supplies.
I got lucky, but I’d imagine many other principals not in the Dublin area are having a tough time sorting this.
I do find it ridiculous that the department sent us a procurement which to order approved products from and now half the products have been recalled.

Stop talking sense would ya. The only thing allowed on here is that teachers are lazy, principals sit in the office all day and that we all threw away the keys last Friday and will look for them again next Monday morning.

Anyone that says different is obviously lying.

Not unique. Unlike Northern Ireland (where SF is in power) who value shopping centres more than kid's education there are countries like Ireland, Germany, France who will close schools as a last resort.

Level 5 IS last resort. There is no higher level in Ireland.

What the hell will happen with children if they would isolate for one month?

I'd guess this is minor issue. There was methanol found in one of sanitizers which potentially can cause irritation to the skin. But methanol is killing this military-grade coronavirus as effective as it would ethanol do. This is just incomparable threats. I'm pretty sure i'd prefer small skin irritation to spending time in the intensive care unit with 50% chances to leave it alive with no chances you life will be same as before.

Methanol also has effects such as coma and death and some parents object to us inflicting those on their kids.

The department email just stated that there was issues with the registration of these products. They said to store them awaiting further details and we may use them again if we get the all clear.

This is in relation to Thursdays recall not the Virapro recall.

There really is a nice clique here who are so fast backslaping each other and telling each other how superior they are to everyone else with their Facebook and Twitter science. All the post above about the products that need to be replaced showed that it can be done without major trouble.

Anyway it's nice to see that it's not my nationality but my eating habits that's objectionable now. It's an improvement.

Surely this is just trolling, nobody can be that ignorant after months of discussions on delayed effects of restrictions.
So we started a lockdown two days earlier which didn't really take affect until the weekend and you want to credit that?

Every little thing you do has an affect on numbers whether it be a good or bad thing. A person can pick.up and spread the virus in a very short time span. The cumulative affect of shutting things down begins immediately, at first it's minimal but it's affect grows day by day. It doesn't suddenly change things after a certain time period.
ah jaysus - if you think kids not being in school on a monday impacts the case numbers/R rate/test positivity rate 4 days later you are an idiot.
If you knew what you were talking about I might take offense to being called an idiot.
Somebody who hasn't a clue calling you an idiot means nothing though, harmless, uneducated and all that.

    Your nationality?

Honestly haven't seen it mentioned once. If it has been I totally missed when that happened or what the issue was with it.

You were the one who suggested that teachers eat outside in the rain and then unprompted I might add, informed boards that you don't eat lunch.

Why you need to eat out? Aren't schools equipped by plastic screens like below?

    south-korea-school-1.jpg?quality=90&strip=all&w=662

When combined with proper ventilation this setup should provide more or less good protection.

I doubt there's a single school in the republic equipped to that standard or anywhere near it, our small cafeteria is split into 4 that can sit around 30 each

Blondini had a pop at my nationality.

Eating outside was sarcasm btw because we both know it's very easy to find solutions to spread people having lunches. If there is space pressure you ask the ones with the car to eat in the car. But according to you that can't be done.

Anyway I also see I'm accused of being a liar. I will take that kind of personal stuff as sign of weakness in the person making accusations. We all loose our cool sometimes, the weak ones more often.

Do you mean Irish schools are still looking like this in XXI century:

    Good lord. I can’t even....

Yeah that’s me out again. This thread is ridiculous

This is the problem with Boards, Facebook, and social media in general nowadays. The loonies just keep banging on with their agenda until everyone any way sane eventually just get exasperated and give up.

Then you just end up with a loony echo chamber like the CA forum with a bunch of headers thinking their views are normal because there's no one left to disagree with them.

Schools close for over a week and case numbers drop off a cliff! Shock! Horror!
