"Let's celebrate the diversity of all people who bleed"..... Christ. It’s not so much the absurdity of what is said that’s most troubling, but the fact that we’ve created a society where it can be said without blushing

At least now you know that you can tape a tampon onto a scratch wound and nobody is allowed to mock you for it.

Saw this on a news channel this morning: apparently, it is racist and sexist to use the last names (only) of classical composers e.g. Beethoven.
According to the Slate.com website: "Musicians, academics, and teachers have a lot of work ahead to confront the racist and sexist history of classical music." The concept of "fullnaming", as they call it, should be used by everyone going forward when we discuss composers.

This is your new new word of the day people, "fullnaming".
While "Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart" may be a mouthful, we all need to say it now instead of "Mozart", because, you know ............ racism.
What a wacky and offended world we are now living in.

No, because we abuse our white privilege by assuming Mozart can only mean Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Good to know, I’m duly feeling the appropriate amount of white guilt!

Is this like the time we had to start calling that footballer 'fat Ronaldo', to differentiate him from the other guy?

Ah ok, so we have to fullname Michael Jeffrey Jordan too then to distinguish him - the greatest basketball player ever - from John Joseph Jordan, the guy who played a little bit of basketball when he was in school in Tuam in Co. Galway 30 years ago.

Most basketball fans just say "Jordan". I'll be sure to correct them every time we discuss him from now on.

I honestly don't get what they're looking for with these kinds of characters - when this totally flops they'll say it's because of racism/sexism.
It's not, it's because they create these one dimensional characters whose only shtick is "Look at me! I'm diverse and super!"

It's like c'mon what else ya got? Race/Ethnicity/gender/sexual orientation should all be facets incidental to the character - not the character itself

If this was a thing when Michelangelo Merisi was around, we might never have had Caravaggio...

Picasso was baptized as Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santisima Trinidad Martyr Patricio Clito Ruíz y Picasso.

    Just rolls off the tongue.

Luckily the whole claim of Fullnaming is bogus. No such movement or demand.

    Edit.
That IKEA one has to be a joke.

Not a movement, but an idea that like a lot of these woke ideas, was noble in intent, poor in execution -

"We like to respond that we won’t know the gender until our child is 18 and that they’ll let us know then. Everyone laughs at this."

(Claiming any of this sh1te is “noble” is a load of ****. It is gobsh1tes being gobsh1tes, nothing noble about it.)

-'I'll let you know in 2038 hun'
-'20 to 9? Why can't you tell me now?'

Well of course it’s gobshìtes being gobshìtes, but I meant the intent behind the stupidity - I can understand their rationale, but the execution is woeful. Like this Burger King advertisement -
