Le Champions doing what they do. VAR blew it’s load too early this week, and they strolled to victory.

Shame the Salah goal was offside, would’ve been goal of the season.

Joint top of the league despite playing relatively poorly, some horrendous injuries to key players and some awful decisions against us. Up Klopp’s resilient red men.

When you look at Liverpool's defence without their mega signings (VVD + Alisson) they're pretty ordinary. Klopp hasn't done much to improve the defence only throw a lot of money at the problem.

Take away Messi's career assists and goals and he's nothing special is he?

Take away John Lennon and Paul McCartney and The Beatles really weren't all that great. Ringo wasn't even a good drummer.

Confirmed VAR only checked the line

And now it's getting reported that they checked both. Every week it's a stream of contradicting stories about VAR.

I saw The Athletic say they confirmed they only checked the line only to change it to they checked both. I'm convinced they're purposely releasing multiple stories to cause confusion (the refs that is)

I’m putting it here as I don’t want it to be seen as a Utd dig , but Solskjaer really is a bluffer. All he does is hark back to his Fergie days and give sound bites. Then look completely lost. That’s taking into account that English isn’t his first language.

VAR causing a lot of confusion. Make so many mistakes it'll just be scrapped. Good tactics!

I honestly think United have the worst manager in the league. Chelsea are not to far behind with Lampard.

Harry Kewell at Oldham is fairly brutal, but he has time on his side and could turn out better than Solskjaer yet.

Oldham aren't in the PL though.

    Ah.

I'm 46...when someone refers to the League I think of it as 4 divisions!

In that case obviously Solskjaer is the worst. And by a mile.

I like Scott Parker , and dont like seeing managers sacked, but he is out of his depth , if Fulham are to have any chance of staying up , they need a quality manager.

They had no business coming up really. I don't know what a different manager could get out of them.

Random Stats because I'm bored and WFH has ruined my sleeping pattern

Liverpool & Spurs have the most goals scored 15 (Spurs could top this Monday or Everton tomorrow as they've 14)

Liverpool & Fulham have the most goals conceded in 14 (West Brom have 13 and could top this Monday)
Sheffield have 3 goals scored in 6 games. Joint with Burnley but they only played 3

Aston Villa have conceded the least amount of goals. 5

Liverpool and Arsenal are the only team to win all their home games.

Lots of teams have won all their away games

    it's all about Liverpool
with Liverpool and City seemingly having lost the key to the inhaler cabinet it's looking wide open
    could be anyone's this year
I could see Everton being 15 points clear when Covid calls it off :)

Absolutely, the worst manager in the league. He should kiss the feet of Fernandes that's he's still in the job.

So he identified a good player, bought him in a deal where United didn't get rinsed, played the player in his best position and gave him carte blanche to impose himself on games, the player played well and improved the team in the process? What a ****ing idiot am I right guys? What a total bluffer.

Parker and Lampard aren't much better, it's still remarkable Chelsea spent so much money in the summer and you see Sky covering for them yesterday acting like a lifeless 0-0 vs United was some sort of tactical achievement and benchmark performance.
At least Arteta is preventing me from saying don't hire a manager just cause he played for the club.

Hang on. Was Jose not trying to get Fernandez in before he was sacked? There was definitely reports that summer wasn't there?

Are you giving Ole credit for the fee paid? But why is it Woodward's fault when ye overpay for a player?

Ole is a bluffer. And the longer he stays the better. United are going no where under him. Renew his license for another 10 years please. Leave him at the wheel.

Why would Mourinho wanting Fernandes 18 months before have any bearing on Ole actually buying him and getting a tune out of him? What even is that argument?

I have no idea why you're bringing up Woodward here. I have made no statements about him so you seem to be attributing other people's opinions on him to me. Again weird.

And finally, there are many sticks to beat Ole with. Buying players and them improving the team is not one of them. Any sort of insinuation that he should be thankful that a player he scouted, bought and slotted into the team turned out to be good is absolutely ridiculous and if you take a step back you can see that.

I'm personally on the fence about Ole. He has a good eye for a player, has a decent hit rating in the transfer market, and has gotten a tune out of a lot of players that looked like duds under Jose. But he also objectively isn't as good tactically as the top managers which will likely be his undoing.

But balanced discussion just isn't on the menu when it comes to him for whatever reason. Its all broad statements like "bluffer" and laughable back handed compliments about a player he bought, you know, playing well! The audacity. Such luck!

Well it would indicate that he didn't do any scouting and that someone else wanted him at the club.

Well it would indicate that he didn't do any scouting and that someone else wanted him at the club.

Two separate managers can do scouting right? Ole likely continued on the scouting in the interim 18 months right? Are we now suggesting that Ole bought him without doing any scouting 18 months after Jose got sacked? Why are people fighting this one so hard and contorting themselves into ridiculous arguments? Ole got this right and he has done pretty well with the players he has bought. It's okay to say that guys, and still think he isn't a top manager.

Edit: and just to put to bed this ridiculous "Hes a Mourinho signing really" nonsense. Mourinho bought Fred in centre midfield for 50m in his last transfer window. Thats who he prioritised for midfield that summer.
