Just tested positive again after having it in August. This year is a fcking write off.

I'm beginning to think that there are issues with the test. I'm hearing of more and more people getting two positives months apart. And although numbers have been high for some time now, we are not seeing the kind of numbers that would be expected with serious illness.

I know some measures were only introduced but we've been at level 3 countrywide for a week and a half now and Dublin and Donegal for much longer. It's hard to see how the government can be dumb enough to think it's working
Population density does play a part in the spread of the disease and Dublin would always take quite a bit of time to control. Donegal started at a very high level anyway.

Again, this. This is the real problem and a Level 5 move might help a little but not the game changer. In fact, I'd agree roughly with the idea that no social visits as we have now is a much bigger move than that brought in at higher levels, such as shutting businesses down. If people follow it properly - and all the basic recommendations -it should make a big difference - but if they don't, it won't.
It's not a ban, it's an advisement. The media particularly RTE claim it's a ban. My parents both in their 70's will not be observing it, likewise my wife's parents ( 70's also) have no interest in following it.

Judging by friends, acquaintances, neighbours etc they are not following the no social visits advice and have no intention of doing so.

I don't believe you, you posted a few months ago about a negative test but I cannot see where you mentioned having it previously

Is it possible that the test is picking up remnants of your previous infection. Hasn't the pcr test been known to detect the virus up to 78 days after initial infection.

You're a really top poster Seamus, always non biased either way.

But I don't agree here. No way has there been a massive slow down. We started the week with regular 800+ cases and then 1100, 1,200 and 1,000. Way up on last week's averages.

He said in growth. Do you understand the difference between % growth rate and an increase in numbers of cases?

Except that restricting economic activity could end some businesses and ruin the economic and mental well-being of a whole lot of workers.

But be aware, the current plight of business interests raised so much in the media has nothing to do with mental health or the wellbeing of workers.

Watch the hospital and ICU numbers. If they start to rise very fast then you'd be right.

Even growth hasn't slowed 'massively'. Calm your tone down.

I had a test in May, yes - and it was negative.

Here's my test in august and today.

I have no reason to lie about this. For the record, I have absolutely zero symptoms whatsoever.

Any symptoms first time round? What was the reason for each test?

This is a point that was predicted back in March, by Holohan himself, where people would stop complying, through fatigue mainly. Public message aside not much else can be done.

Why you get tested 3 times ?

May test - I had some symptoms but it turned out just to be me feeling generally under the weather.

August - I had close contact with a confirmed case. I had symptoms for about 5 days in total, loss of smell/taste, mild shortness of breath and aches in my neck. That was about it, very mild altogether.

Now - close contact within the household. No symptoms at all.

Some people can get tested multiple times cos of their job. My brother lives in New York and gets tested weekly

No but it is a hidden knock-on effect, especially after 8 months of this.

    Negative in August

You might want to re-read it.

I see that now, the agreement was blocking the second test

When you move from 4, 5, 6% upwards in positivity rate of tests carried out you're not seeing a 'massive' fall in growth rate.
