The number of over 65s hospitalised up to yesterday as per Covid stats site was 2204.

That is an increase of 212 on previous day.

So if (if) their figure is correct then it follows that 212 NEW over 65s were hospitalised in that 24 hours.

And I don’t believe that for a minute.

It's 2004 if you use the gov.ie site. The amount of errors recently on the sites is f*cking atrocious. Dublin was listed as 313 even though it was 241. Since updated.
    1992 the day before and then add 6 for 65-74, 1 for 74-84 and 5 for 85+

All the border counties or just Donegal and Cavan?

It'll be tough on Leitrim if it's all border counties.

I can't see them doing it as if Dublin cases rise they'll have to hold them to the same pillar. Remember level 3.5, they know it could cause chaos on the streets.

How would it cause chaos exactly?

Border Counties are Donegal, Leitrim, Cavan, Monaghan and Louth.

Think Leitrim is doing the best of those, then Louth.

You'll have a lot of young people bored at home not listening to RTE, I can see them taking to the streets to demand the right to make a living and socialise.

Switzerland reports record 4,068 new cases and 4 new deaths

So did mine I helped carry the coffin, wasn't offered any treatment for her cancer. My wife's uncle there same, diagnoses delayed due to Covid, couldn't get treatment. Were not hearing those stories, covid this covid that nothing else matters.

And you think an overwhelmed Health System, rampant with covid infections and sick Health Care workers would improve this?

Didnt happen in Sweden, the opposite in fact.

    Can't have friends over
    Can't make new friends
    Can't cross the county border
    Can't see pretty girls smiles
    Can't party
    Can't go for a swim
    Can't go to the gym
    Can't go to the pub
    Can't go to match
Can't take the kids trick or treating
    Can't go to festivals
Can't have a work Christmas party

I could go on, this is insanity. Sitting around waiting for a vaccine God knows when if ever.

Gyms and leisure centres are still open.

Lads does anyone know why Bookies are allowed open?

I wasn't aware that they were open but apparently they are.

    Makes no sense at all.

Bookies are open under Level 3.

Crucially, by electing for Level 3 instead of either of the more extreme options, the government has also ensured that betting shops will remain open. They would be forced to shut under the terms of Level 4 and Level 5.

Not gonna happen. The border counties are ignored at any other time why will now be any different. Lockdowns only work if the people buy into them. That boat has sailed long ago. Level 3 will have to do.;)

    This isn't France pal.

They'll just bitch and moan and take the free pandemic payment. Yeah you'll get the usual few space cadet's that blame the government for everything but they'll be laughed at by the vast majority as the wasters they are.

    Hardly chaos though.

that's exactly what people don't get, if the system is overwhelmed with covid cases allowed to run rampant, then no other illnesses or procedures will get a look in anyway, and if its an emergency case, chances will be very high of picking up covid in the hospital.

Got to keep the fear going, eh?

What's the point in your reporting cases around the world as they are announced. You banned from porn hub or something?

What in the name of God is the point of telling us about what Timor-Leste records?
Could you even point out the place on a map?
Seriously, take a break from Covid stuff for a while, you're getting obsessed.

Kermit, to balance up the silly abuse you get, I find it interesting to see published figures from elsewhere on the planet, because I am a planeteer. Not because I am beating myself in a frenzy of doom mongering ecstasy with a thorny whip and pouring vinegar on the wounds, but just simply because it is...interesting.

In short: The more ridiculous a point of view, the harder it is to distinguish someone being serious and someone taking the piss.

North Korea has been reporting zero covid for months. Anyone who actually believes it, needs their head examined.

don't think I've ever seen such a complexly worded wiki explanation..I'm still trying to figure it out 3rd time re-reading :(

A lot of people put life over health every day, it's not something you should be obsessed about and stop living at the thoughts of something bad happening, how many of us partake in dangerous sports, take drink, drugs, smoke, sleep with random strangers, loads do and they want to get on with life, a lot of people have no interest in leaving behind a good looking corpse or spending their remaining years being spoon fed in a nursing home and crying for water nobody brings.
Choose Life, not wasting it all hiding behind a couch.

Go away with keeping your distance and wearing a mask, there not compatible with a great life.

Is it though? You can't just rock up to the NK border and swan on in. I'm not saying they have no cases at all but it wouldn't be a huge stretch to say they've kept a lid on it.

If you are going to post different countries stats why not make it interesting and give it some context. We can take the stats from worldometers easily.
