So Tony had concerns, he has had concerns every ****en meeting since day 1. Its obvious he is running NPHET and a one trick pony. Cases are rising, ok let's lock everyone in their house, close every business and restrict all movements, no meeting family. What about the economy and peoples mental health tony. Not my problem says Tony. The man is a ****en genius alright.

It's almost like his brief is public health and his focus is narrow.

To me the checkpoints today whilst difficult for many were sending out a message.

There will be more I think, but at different times.

i think we got the message sunday night when we all thought we were going back into hard lockdown. the checkpoints are a ****ing disgrace. piling on more anxiety and nuisance at a time when the whole country is a having a mental breakdown. devoid of any actual purpose or use. and to top it off? we're paying the guards overtime for it.

The increased social activity during the summer seeded the virus all over and then this activity was replaced in Sept by schools.

    Imagine reaching this much.

But who defines what “viable” is ? And viable from what perspective ?
Bottom line it’s Money Vs health that it’s ultimately going to down to.

If the economy tanks the health outcomes of the general population will go down also so not so simple as Money vs Health

Martin Feeney's arguments are essentially the same you'll here spouted in the relaxation of restrictions thread. He means well, but his arguments don't stack up.

You obviously don't have kids and if you do god help them. The change in my kids since they went back to school has be immense. Lock them back up in the house and the regression will really harm them. Kids need to socialise to develop.

It's not an ideal situation for anyone, is it? I could say that you obviously don't have an extremely vulnerable family member, but that's not my style.
    Your kids will survive.

A complete and utter waste of time and resources. Where do they come up with this nonsense. 1000s of Gardai manning checkpoints according to RTE. Would they not be better served doing patrols of communities for visibility and to discourage house parties and the like? They might actually prevent / identify some real criminal activities while they're at it!

Public health or just covid health, as was just pointed in the tonight show. Health is physical health, mental health and social health. They seem only to care about one section of physical health never mind mental or social health.

Agreed. Anyone who thinks the figures are massaged obviously should be ignored but that kind of tin foil hattery has to be called out.

There's a provision for free movement:
The Treaty allows a Member State to refuse an EU national the right of entry or residence on the grounds of public policy, public security or public health.

During a pandemic, proof of a negative covid test isn't too much to ask.

    It is here.

Explain to everyone what you meant by it so.

That they bombarded us with stats and charts like they haven't in ages.

Trying to justify their level 5 hysteria.

That's not me saying they massaged the figures.

Massaging is hiding or bending the truth to suit a narrative.

What they put up is the truth.

So yeah once again, where did u say they massaged the figures?

It seems Rte and virgin just want an opposing opinion with medical background on to stir the pot. It's dangerous have Martin Feely on to spout some of his opinions.
He might not be on again for a while after letting one rip live on air....

Italy reports highest number of cases since April (3,678) as hospitalisations and ICU admissions climb. 31 deaths in last 24 hrs (highest since June 20th).

All the charts starting to look the same. This is current with / of / from / in covid:(

On the 7th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me 7 cancelled sessions of swimming, 6 people around my gaff for praying, fluid filled lungs, 4 temp checks, 3 face masks, 2 surgical gloves and a virus beginning with C

Jesus Christ. No need for this ****.

What about their mental and educational health, the parents health? How will the parents work?

Well you were talking about Italy and not Ireland!
How's the random testing at Irish airports which Donnelly promised was due to start? Haven't heard much of that, somehow I'm gonna guess it never started.

    Yeah some don't get that.

If the unemployment level rises high enough, our access to money is restricted, certaintly at favourable interest rates according to PD.

Its not money vs health unfortunately, money is health

Meanwhile China has only 7 cases today. Is it time we adopted their approach? Strict lockdown. Barricade people into houses. No flights into the country without quarantine. For a country with 1.5 billion people to only have 7 new cases is extraordinary.

So it's not dangerous for Professors to suggest bankrupting the state going for Zero Covid, but it is for a respected doctor to offer his opinions as to a way forward...I see.
