As always it'll be 2-3 weeks to see what happens.

How many weeks have Dublin been at 3?

Funny that 7-10 days ago NPHET didn't feel any counties needed extra restrictions. Did they drop the ball and panicked and want to hit the lockdown button?

Think so. Hence Tony's play on Sunday.

5 dead, wonder what Varadker thinks of that!

Seems NHPET said we didn't need level 3 last week they must feel bad.

I’m not really liking how they’re trying to do a convincing job now. NPHET said we didn’t need to level 3 last week.?

You guys are aware of the change at the top of NPHET over that period?

3 or so. It seems level 3 stabilises but doesn't lower.

The press questions coming this evening have the potential to turn the atmosphere in to a UFC type presser.

It seems to be like Tony thought Glynn was being too subtle and pressed the big red button tbh

Dr. Leo has just had his arse handed to him based on watching the first 5 mins of the briefing.

Level 5 coming sooner than Dr. Leo thinks. I'm sure once Dr. Leo now has the circuit breaker lingo drilled into him by his advisors he will find a way to make it his own....

Tony the bone is not running the country though, he thinks he is in fairness but he is not. No other country in Europe has gone into full lockdown with worse numbers than us. What do they know that we don't.

He's not necessarily saying that just that that it wasn't some plan of his or other top people in NPHET

Dublin has had 3 successive days of incidence decline in COVID-19.

Donegal is in trouble with Derry on the border. Possible bigger decision needed here with the border there?

That was my personal impression all along. Seems fairly significant he would strongly suggest that. Dead right too imo.

Firstly, I was talking about people saying that Hotels have to close. Secondly, I am going on a Dublin staycation this weekend. Hotel open. Restaurant booked. Looking forward to it, just to get semblance of normality as much as can be, and have a drink outside the house!

    exactly.

    Is Dublin your county?

Level 5 is pointless unless your going to do it till at least Sep 2021.

Once you open up your back to square 1.

I think he is referring to the case reported in the UK where a person supposedly died in a car crash and because they had covid it was marked as a covid death.

Is there any correlation between locking down Dublin and the increase in the virus in multiple other counties?

If level 5 is introduced the country will explode. There's no going back to that level of restriction and unemployment.

We already know it was a member of cabinet who leaked it to journalists, as they do for every NPHET memo.

I doubt it was without the party leaders permission either, the leaks always serve valuable for testing the public mood before any decisions are made. Government has been using NPHET as a shield for unpopular measures in recent times so it wasn't a surprise to see them completely thrown under the bus on Monday.

It worked as well, they soaked up all the blame while the government quietly closed pubs and restaurants across the country for the foreseeable future.
