They ask where you're going, if you say you're leaving the county they just say the advice is not to travel and you should turn back.

Then nothing. Just an awkward silence as you drive away

    Haha, jesus ok

Has anyone got a view on the rent a crowd anti vaccine, anti mask, anti everything that are marching with impunity while the rest of us are observing the rules.

Contrast to those who observe. I am sick of this now.

Surely there is a balance in law between free speech and encitement for the greater good of society now and then. I dunno. Even for the period of the L3 thing would be good to shut them up wouldn't it?

I suppose it will give them the publicity they crave though.

Another one planned for Saturday. Hopefully bigger.

Very clever idea; essentially the Gaurds are going to inconvenience people until they comply with the restrictions.

"permanent static checkpoints would be established on motorways and..."

They'll hardly checkpoint the ****ing m50 will they??

There’s only an awkward silence if you’re a selfish pr**k who thinks they shouldn’t abide by public health guidelines.

    Wouldn't surprise me.

People aren't taking the restrictions seriously.

I'm just relaying what I've heard from checkpoints recordings on the radio. It's dumb as **** and people who were going to travel will travel anyway.

50euro on the spot fines will cut it out.

And in addition to this also told that a minimum of 2500 euro will be automatically deducted from their bank accounts or will be taken from their social welfare payments.

The fantasising of Irish citizens civil liberties being stamped all over is more than a little bit pathetic lads and lassies. Tells us a lot about you.

Ffs, i'm on it every day going from one part of dublin to another for work, will be royally pissed if i'm sitting in checkpoint queues!

    No, it's within the county.

It's either take action now, or we can rock up to Level 5 for the next few months.

We need to do this properly now, so we can avoid that.

They should take it up with the above mentioned anti-everything idiots who are incapable of following advice. They cause these measures.

One would assume the warning might deter more of the non-essential travellers and make the queues just a little shorter but I'm expecting the equivalent rush hour traffic in some spots all day long.

Decent read if anyone has a few minutes to spare.

Interesting line I thought, given some called it last week that seeing as CMO was returning he might try it.

"Government believed chief medical officer Tony Holohan was trying to bounce it into a lockdown, and they weren’t having it.

“Tony thinks it’s still March. But it’s not. The context has changed,” said one insider.

    https://twitter.com/Jennifer_Bray/status/1313721099419627521?s=19

I think one of the greatest things the government has done here is convinced a lot of so called intelligent people that the leak came from NPHET.

But I suppose that's why we keeping getting the governance we have.

I still see no one from cabinet has refuted the science or the data.

    Look over there a squirrel.....

They don't need to checkpoint the M50 as it runs through the middle of Dublin as a county. That would be a pointless exercise.

Just the main artery roads. M1, M4, M7 etc.

Exactly, can be fairly sure that anyone on the road during daylight hours are either going about their usual business or collecting school kids or other necessary journeys.

The message really has to get through and there are many who are behaving properly that will get swept up in this. As posted above it's preferable to deal with this now than to go back to just being able to step outside your door.

Are you now against them? Nice to see you've changed your tune from what you were at the start.

With no powers of enforcement, other than guilt trips, this strikes me as a massive waste of money.

We’re lucky to live in such a crime free country that we can pull Gardai from investigating crime to hold up/annoy people and give “advice”.

That was looney lefts attempting to attack peaceful marchers. See last week, no looney left attackers, zero incidents reported by Gardai.

That's a bit of a sideshow now. It was communication failure all round. Government officials would almost invariably have reacted the way the rest of the country did - with a meltdown. They shouldn't but they are human as well.

No. The briefing scheduled for Monday was cancelled.

Will be interesting to see if Thursdays goes ahead.

But you can be sure the CMO and Acting CMO didn't meet with Donnelly yesterday to discuss how 'good face shields are'.

Interesting piece here. Again looks like government were unhappy with the leak more than the advice. Big assumption seems to be NPHET did it but I don't see much motivation for that. https://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/nphet-s-shock-recommendation-caused-disbelief-and-anger-within-government-1.4373965?mode=amp
