They need to add an extra solidarity element to level 5 that those responsible for the decision will for the period of level 5 move to PUP payments.

    You have lost the plot!!

Go away and stop talking rot.

They will have to work long days to get the PUP, TWSS (EWSS) to people as quickly as possible again.

It’s quite clear what is after happening here. There should be no confusion.
Tony Holohan has/had absolutely zero confidence in Glynn. He decided to return and set us on the straight and narrow. It seems to me like a complete power trip that suddenly NPHET changes their whole tune the EXACT day he comes back.
    It’s very ****ing clear.

Taking the 5 day averages at 5% growth per day.

    15th - 750 daily cases

    25th - 1200 daily cases

    4th - 2000 daily cases

    14th - 3200 daily cases

    24th - 5200 daily cases

They have to be seeing figures/stats we aren’t, but if they are it needs to be explained and communicated.
I’d hazard contact tracing is failing and if they can’t catch it they don’t know where it is. I just don’t think they’d go full Level5 without good reason.

Interesting point that the contact tracing is failing. If it is the reason they want Level 5 then they won’t come clean, because deep down they know they will be putting thousands out of work, shutting down many businesses forever because they messed up.

Cases will rise once a lockdown is lifted that is where contact tracing was too come into play and stop the spread and clusters.

What was done in last 7 months to allow us to ‘live’ with Covid? What is point in going into level 5 unless there is a plan to stop us going there again. I think most of us can handle some level of restrictions but many draw the line at closing every thing down.

Yeah very much looks like he's been watching things unfold from afar and decided he knows better.

    How'd the march go Saturday?

Cop on to yourself. To leak recommendations to the public on a Sunday night with the government still to even organise a cabinet meeting is reckless and downright stupid. Folks are up in arms and rightly so as its being managed so very badly

    The Journal :pac:

Bunch of nut jobs on there. Have you ever read the comments section it's pure guff.

He'd still be receiving the data as CMO, even if he was out on compassionate leave. I'm sure his ears were tuned to recent NPHET meetings knowing full well that he was due to return.

the 5 level system needs to go.

    there should be three levels;

    1. GREEN - basic controls, masks, handwashing. all businesses open.
    2. AMBER - stay in county, small amount of visitors, all businesses still open with control measures except pubs, no crowds at sporting events.
    3. RED - total lockdown as per april, schools closed.

everywhere green until we get a vaccine. amber if cases are rising for a period of 3-5 consecutive days. RED if cases still rising two weeks after going AMBER.

no debating, no sub committees. the levels enforced immediately. everyone knows the criteria.

And what if the vaccine takes 18 - 24 months to be rolled out? As simple as your plan sounds how long will people stick by rules. Bare minimum there is six more months of restrictions ahead.

cross that bridge if/when it happens. right now vaccines are looking very promising.

Great to see Tony coming back.
I think NPHET have completely lost the public since Tony left, to be honest.

NPHET's decisions - are they democratic or how does it work? For them to have such a huge shift between 3 days is obviously Tony's influence but is he not just one voice in the group? Is it not by consensus? Or can one voice just shout / veto everyone else?

I’ll be honest, fully convinced Tony would bring a calm and measured response.
Believe it or not, I have the courage to change my mind, unlike some.

That's how governments operate in fairness

    Leak first and legislate later

At least here and the UK

Maybe it's a case of them needing somebody who'll stand up to the government. Is there a possibility that our leaders were attempting to tell them what to do?

No they didn't, NPHET doesn't comment to media.

The recommendations contained in the letter sent to gov were leaked to the media.

Is it that some people do not have the capacity to project? Like toddlers they have to be told what to do because they struggle to grasp reality beyond what is directly in front of them and just like toddlers they tantrum when they can't do what they want because they can't see the danger in it.

The debate is on the need of jumping from level 2 to 5. Cut out the sly remarks like a good lad.
