Some talk in the last few days about playing out the club provincial/All-Ireland series after Christmas so we might get to see this after all, but not against Corofin of course

The question has to be asked is would.it be fair/right to have them all the county champions training over the winter months for something that might not be allowed happen. Personally I'd say leave it be.

They'd be 2/1 outsiders to get past Mountbellew M for starters. Maybe slightly shorter against Moycullen. Would be fascinating to see though

Not sure how you’re coming up with those odds

Best of luck to Tom Clarke, left us for Moycullen this year, he’s a guard in Galway, having a stormer by all accounts

It's hardly rocket science to price club GAA. They've just beaten the best club side of all time by 7 points, and were 30 seconds from beating them 2 years ago. Knockmore have come from obscurity to beat Tubber and Breaffy. What other data points do you think the odds would be made from?

There's a fair argument that MM have been the second best club in Ireland for the past few years, and would have perhaps their best player back from injury in February if the comp went ahead. As it is, Ballymun would be AI favs in that case given their firepower with the Galway winner or Nemo (assuming they clear Cork) second

All the talk has been about the retirement of Diarmuid Connolly and certainly not wishing to detract from same but I thought I'd wish another fine footballer a healthy retirement.

Sadly there's no active Sligo thread but after 16 years of service Adrian Marren has called it a day.

Not too often a Mayo man is so complimentary of a Sligo man!:)

Missing a few, Jason and Paddy for example. Good to see Boyler and Fionn back out though.

I'd have expected quite a bit more experimentation TBH.It would have been nice to see some of the Knockmore lads get a run out of sorts.Great to see Mark Moran feature.

Having said that I'm very pessimistic re the championship starting at this point in time.I'd have absolutely no issue with same.

If the trends continue public health advise will dictate a level 4 lockdown.

Anyway attached are links to a couple of Western People articles.

    A report on the match.

The second article hints at the possible return of Tom Prendergast to the backroom team and extols the virtues of Terry Kennedy of basketball fame lest in the highly improbable scenario that James Horan forgets same.

Is Kevin mcloughlin likely to play championship at 6?

Playmaker type? Ye'll need to replace him upfront with someone
who can actually kick a point as hes been one of the few ye've had

To be honest I don't think it's a time for experimentation. Horses for courses approach now for this season especially with Galway on the horizon in a very important league game. There is a freshness to that line-up as well with Mullin, McLaughlin, Moran, & Fionn back now as well. Im sure there are plenty other options off the bench as well.

Delighted to see this line-up and a win secured. We've come through the club championship with relatively unscathed. Lets hope Leeroy can continue where he left off as he seems to be in great shape and back to himself. Plenty of positives for the weeks ahead

I just don't get using Hennelly, time to move on from him.

Kinda obvious he wasn't asked to come in by Horan so.

Only other reason is that he had already given his word to Sligo before he was asked by Mayo

Either way the story I was told earlier in the week that he didn't want to commit to the time required for IC football was incorrect.

Going by the government roadmap the country need to go into level 5 for games to stop.

Peter Naughton in the Sligo panel

Should be the Mayo one IMO

Thats pretty much my only thought from that lineup. There wasn't much sign of big improvements in him throughout the club championship!

    That really beggars belief.

I can not think of any justification for not offering him an opportunity.

Going by the government roadmap the country need to go into level 5 for games to stop.

That's the technical position. But if the country moved into level 4 and the covid figures were still moving in the wrong direction just as the championship was about start, there would be big pressure on the GAA to call it off, especially if there were further cases among county players.

    Got any inside information?

None. His uncle played for Sligo so I suppose the connection is there

But ya it’s a real shame, he’s such a talented footballer. I’ve no idea why he wouldn’t be invited into the Mayo set up

Just thinking there, is there not a point during the year(thought it was the end of March) after which lads can't decide to switch their county allegiance?

Knockmore would tie him to Mayo unless a transfer was requested prior to this date or have I this totally ar$eways?

Seemingly Jason did his cruciate again at training during the week.

I predicted Moycullen to win on the Galway thread?

Knockmore, with few big names and who were in relegation trouble two years ago, would be outsiders against some teams who've either beaten the best club side ever or gone close to it. Are you butt-hurt about that or something? Ive never seen a lad get upset over bookies odds before

How would you price up Knockmore versus either of the Galway clubs?

Butt hurt? What an intelligent comment

It’s the equivalent of saying Villa would be favourites to beat City because they beat Liverpool yesterday

I’d have Knockmore as favourites against a team winning their first county championship. I also think Tom, personalities aside, would struggle to make the starting 15 for us this year

But here lies the beauty, you don't have anything else to go on. In MM's case you'd have a team going toe to toe with Corofin while KM are a bolter from the blue in Mayo. Moycullen are a side with 5 current intercounty players, 1 more former, and two of the best young prospects in the country in with u20's, and who shouldve made a final last year. Theyve mopped up underage also.

I'll PM you the twitter handles of both the Boyles and PP GAA traders if you like? Might make you feel better to hear that KM would be outsiders from them

Before this, Knockmore hadn't won a county title since 1997 (I'm aware you know this from following this thread). Would that really have a bearing on their chances of winning?
