As someone described Bolsanaro, he’s giving off a serious guy-in-zombie-movie-trying-to-hide-a-bite vibe.

He looks pale and a bit under the weather and his body language is far more subdued than normal, but I wouldn't say he looks terribly ill.

I haven't experienced a car crash directly so it must be an exaggeration. See how this works?

But not every driver crashes their car. Cars aren’t crashing all over the place. See how that works?

I'd be more worried about the state of humanity that there are so many people willing to enjoy someone's misfortune to catch this. Whatever your views, it's pretty ****ed up to celebrate anyone getting sick. Karma.

I heard he was being tested every day as a precaution, if so he would only be in the early stages of infection most likely pre-symptomatic.

Who cares? If sleepy Joe gets a negative test today he'll have to have another test tomorrow as he'll have forgotten today's test result. Two old goats, 3,000 miles away, who cares? What sort of a world do we live in when two old farts in their mid seventies are the only candidates for the presidency of the USA? And I'm no nipper.

QE started in 2014, no sign of much consumer price inflation since.

What sort of reporting is this from Washington Post - seriously, "for the deadly coronavirus", not worthy of a yellow top rag. Of course it results in deaths as we all know, but hyperbole jaysus. And then, he's "struggling" with a low grade fever. Really?

"President Trump was transported to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday evening after announcing that he had tested positive for the deadly coronavirus. Trump is struggling with a low-grade fever, a cough and nasal congestion, among other symptoms, said two officials familiar with his condition."

People have to relax about this recession, I'm still relatively young and this will be my second recession, and unlike the first one the economy can easily bounce back once the pandemic is over. Also the areas hit now will still be suffering if everything was opened up. The majority of people will still be scared of covid regardless.

The last recession was to bail out the banks and property developers. This time it's to save lives. A worthy cause in my opinion.

The recovery is underway, after the sharp falls in income.

However, the recovery in employment will be slow and uneven.

While the GDP recession lasted maybe six months, Mar to August 2020, the drop in jobs is more severe.

The domestic economy is suffering more than GDP data suggests.

I only saw a minute of the debate with the other candidate, and seemed like Trump was just about shouting, I hope he/the other guy is ok as well, and does not contract it. Every individual who tests positive even if they are/ especially just an ordinary person would have my thoughts as it can be a bit of a shock.
He is not our president, but can you image if he was, (or even the Taoiseach), that is what a lot of people in the USA may be feeling at the moment, no matter what side of the political fence they are on.

Welcome to the reality of how the virus is often deadly to a man of Trump's age and condition.

Yis can't have it both ways, complain it's only deadly to people of a certain age, and complain when it's described as being deadly in relation to a man of that very same age group.

    Short answer yes.

It is created from thin air and is added to our account. Gov then adds it to yours.

One day a man named Mario said "whatever it takes".

Since then money fell from the internet.

People really don't get it. It's not accountancy. It's magic.

Note that the ECB does not lend to Govts.

It never has, and never will.

So the ECB does not directly finance Irish Govt spending.

I'm not referring to the potential impact. A mainstream news agency calling it the "deadly coronavirus" is hyping it up. Yes, of course, it's deadly to some, including his age category. But how many articles do you read everyday calling it the "deadly virus". Swear it was the Black Death.

More like the grey death. I might be starting to sound callous, but I'm bloody well fed up with the world being called to a halt just because a virus is knocking off people moments before they step through death's door. There are almost 8 billion people on this small planet, most of whom don't reach thirty years of age and here we are trying to prevent the 'early' death of people well past the age of eighty at the expense of the vast majority of the world's population... it's obscene and one day the world will look back on it all and wonder "What possessed them".

There, I said it. So come on, all you who are clinging to the life of your ancient relatives because you are in fear of your own mortality, and pile in on me. I don't give a fu*k.

This article was written by former high school principal Hugh McCarthy.

    https://www.newsletter.co.uk/news/opinion/columnists/ex-school-head-instilling-fear-pupils-about-covid-could-be-doing-them-great-harm-yet-risk-young-children-tiny-2990807

He asks whether it's necessary for a teacher and a pupil to wear masks and/or visors and for the teacher to stand 6 feet away when the pupil asks a question.
Education needs inter activity, communication, complex explanation, showing and empathy. What about teamwork and group work?

What about children with special needs or who just find education challenging and who more than most need lengthy personal contact?

The message sent out by masks is clear — the teacher is a danger to me and I am a danger to them and my classmates.
According to Office of National Statistics there is a one in three and a half million chance of a 5 to 14 year dying — more chance of dying in a road accident or from a falling tree.

Cases are not leading to children hospitalisations according to the Department of Health (DoH) Dashboard-which also reveals that the average age of death by Covid is 82.

Mark Woolhouse, professor of infectious disease epidemiology, said:
... we absolutely should never return to a position where children cannot play or go to school ...

100 leading child psychologists described the UK lockdown as 'a national disaster'.
Professor Ellen Townsend highlights the “rising anxiety and loneliness”.

Suicide is already the leading cause of death in young people aged 19 and under, “we need to recognise the sacrifice children have already made”.

    Mr McCarthy also wrote:
Do we imagine instilling young minds with fear will have no long term effects? I was passing a mummy with a three-year old child — the child grabbed her mummy’s leg and hid behind her — her mum said “she won’t meet anybody”.

And what does the science say about the psychological effects of mask wearing?

A widely known piece of research know as the Still Face experiment reveals that a child becomes emotionally distressed when they are unable to see and reciprocate facial expressions.

The potential impact on children’s social and emotional development of making them spend time surrounded by people whose facial expressions are covered may have disastrous consequences, according the Still Face experiment findings.

Here are some of Mr McCarthy's conclusions:
Face masks should not be worn by healthy individuals-there is no evidence to suggest they are effective in stopping such people from becoming ill (American Medical Association)
Dr Jenny Harries, Deputy Chief Scientific Officer of England, puts it thus, “masks could actually trap the virus and the wearer then starts to breathe it in putting themselves at more risk”

74-year-old man is tired, fatigued and has trouble breathing while doing 24 hour a day job running the USA and fighting a virus. What do they expect if they keep electing pensioners to the presidency?

Way to go you. A child under 15 dies every 5 seconds around the world. https://www.who.int/news-room/detail/18-09-2018-a-child-under-15-dies-every-5-seconds-around-the-world-

1st wave still. Plenty including Ireland got cases and death numbers down low but no country got to a zero covid (not that I think it was possible)

What we have now is the result of nearly every country in Europe that has made the same mistake to allow so many indoor cluster outbreaks happen and unlike the spring time loads of the cases in the last few months have been asymptomatic.

14 day case rate in 5 to 14 year olds has started to fall, and not just as a percentage of overall cases, the actual number. What does this tell us?
Have you a link to this? Andvhiw hasbut changed from 5-12 to 5-14?
