Trump being moved to hospital as precaution

I think they are downplaying his symptoms, could be more serious

Live footage on CNN if anyone's interested, Marine One about to take him to hospital.

Will be very interesting to see if he is actually seen getting on the helicopter, wouldn’t be surprised if he is put in a car and driven. If he is sick, he won’t want to be seen in a weakened state.

I hope it is all electioneering. Most people see this man as a charlatan so it is no suprise that some of us think this is all manufactured in order to avoid further debates and so on.

Cynical? Maybe, but let us see. If he bounces back with a KFC bucket of chicken the day after quarantine and the next debate is over, well work it out.

I'm surprised there are cameras showing this. Is he going to walk down the stairs waving and smiling at everyone? If he is being propped up, or worse in a stretcher, there will be panic.

I doubt it. It would be a much better story for him if he beat it 'like a boss' like Bolsonaro without any need for intervention.
It's not a good look for him to have to go to hospital, same as it wasn't for Boris.

What an appalling post, those people are still dead with grieving relatives. Despicable.

I doubt they will seek comfort and solace on an anonymous internet forum.

People have to relax about this recession, I'm still relatively young and this will be my second recession, and unlike the first one the economy can easily bounce back once the pandemic is over. Also the areas hit now will still be suffering if everything was opened up. The majority of people will still be scared of covid regardless.

The last recession was to bail out the banks and property developers. This time it's to save lives. A worthy cause in my opinion.

There will be no bouncing back. If you do not believe then listen to some people who understand economy.

2 Helicopters for a less than 9 mile journey? Looks to me like a PR and political spin rather than someone that is in need of medical care. even allowing for peak period traffic, it's not a long journey for a convoy under escort, which is what it would have been.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

As someone described Bolsanaro, he’s giving off a serious guy-in-zombie-movie-trying-to-hide-a-bite vibe.

The president of the US is hardly going to go on a 30 min ride in an ambulance, let's be honest. He usually flies in convoys of 3, this time it was 2.

Some posters on this thread seem to be encountering people “coughing and spluttering” all over the place. I haven’t experienced anyone doing that in my vicinity. Am I just lucky or are these posters exaggerating just a tad?

I haven't experienced a car crash directly so it must be an exaggeration. See how this works?

So given that you think it's an eminently sensible do you think they were stupid to not do this in the first place. I do.
Hence my use of the term copping on.

Oh here we go, another what coulda shoulda woulda.

The very fact that you are trying to make this into a question of what would have been sensible back at a certain time is indicative of the entire Irish Covid strategy, the government messaging, and the mindset it has engendered among the Irish people — stuck endlessly, hopelessly and aimlessly on repeat.

It doesn’t matter what would have been sensible back whenever when. It would have been sensible not to buy one’s pangolin short ribs at a s***e-ridden wet market in Wuhan, but here we are. What matters is the fact that we are in a long war, and a long war means accepting that certain moral and practical maxims from March that maybe had some short term value cannot be sustained in the long term.

The Swedes have in place a policy that at least can be specifically reactive to specific problems or risk areas, they can respond to what seems sensible at the time armed with the fact that they have not ground the willpower of their people into the absolute dirt. We on the other hand continue to persist with a model that has only one logical conclusion — the inexorable grinding down of the Irish spirt. The message is getting lost, the aim is getting confused, and all the while we are ignoring festering sores across our society and economy as we become transfixed on what is seemingly the only issue of morality in the universe — keeping cases down.
