I think they would be better off using these examples in a public health campaign say an animation say. I'm not sure if a lot of people (lot of this thread excluded) watch these so not sure value of doing it here unless hoping media report on it specifically.

Border counties of Louth and Donegal not doing too good.
NI nearly had more cases than us today, 220, so I would guess that's where some infections are coming from.

Tried booking an appointment for the flu jab there with Boots - denied - saying only vulnerable are getting it as stocks limited
Woulda thought this year they would be wanting everyone to get it asap

I’m wondering who the vulnerable people are exactly? How is this decided? Also, would they not add hospitals and school staff who already have an increased risk of flu??!!

The vulnerable are like me - type 1 diabetics.

Swedes have a long ignoble history as enthusiastic eugenicists so I'd not trust them on public health and who is allowed to live a full life and who is told to stay indoors.

We had 234 today but with relative population size, they're not doing good these days

What a joy to see Prof Nolan's slides clearly - it only took 5 months!

The Swedish professor talking to Philip Boucher Hayes on Drivetime just now didn't sound like a particularly nice individual, bit of a car crash interview if anyone heard it.
Yeah he's unpleasant and tends to be scathing of those who don't agree with him. Smart man for sure but he does like the sound of his own pronouncements.

Where can you watch the press conference or is it even live anymore?

The Prof. Nolan I was listening to said "it's too early to tell" that.

Do they still give an average age and if there were any underlying conditions for the people who have died. I seem to remember this was done at the start of the press conferences in the beginning. Maybe it has stopped now.

If thats the case, I don't see why Dublin bar & restaurants are closed right now.
Its only 5 days since with cases stabilising which is too soon for lockdown to have been the driver of it.

You forgot to mention that he also said it's way to early to say that with any degree of certainty.

Good day for Waterford so, seems to be simmering down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,132 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

Again I say - put this on RTE News at 6 O'Clock! Sure it might be a bit hard to keep up with if your hard of thinking but the details and questions (even the bad ones) are worth a large prime time audience.
And much of your audience switching elsewhere! It goes on far too long for 6.1. It's always been kind of anorak TV, save back in the days we were scared out of our wits by it and almost any briefing was required viewing.

George Lee saying the rate per 100,000 in donegal is close to 100.

Not sure what's causing that exactly. Proximity to NI I'm sure. People over and back the border. Derry is doing very poorly too.
