Great to see kids aren't to be deemed close contacts even if the teacher has it.

    That’ll keep the numbers down.
Reduce the burden on contact tracing.
Reduce the burden on testing capacity.
Allow government to continue with line ‘kids don’t transmit it’.

It’s a win win win win if ever I saw one.

Only downside is if there are vulnerable or old people in one of the kids houses.

What was the original tweet, was it an individual school or is this general across all schools.

Perhaps the teacher was in an airtight pod at their desk?

In theory the procedures are in place = no close contacts

But thats not the reality. Depends on how well a teacher can control their class, kids can be moving around etc

Why are people doubting our public health teams? Do ye have nothing else to complain about?

I think it is fairly obvious. 1000s unemployed, country headed into the jacks, bizarre implementation of their own system of restrictions, a disease that has very questionable numbers etc

You seem to take this a bit too personally. You yourself said we wouldn't see increased infection thanks to our great public health team's increased tracing abilities compared to March/April not too long ago but it's clear that they have holes that need plugging.

People absolutely need to doubt public health teams and any public body when necessary. Accountability is a key pillar of our public systems and without that, the place would fall apart.

People are picking apart the schools just because they believe they should be closed.

    1) Schools aren’t closing - some need to get that into their heads.
    2) If the kids were contacts, they would be feckin tested.

Sorry Ace, didn’t mean to offend you.
I suppose it stems from the fact Stephen Donnelly drank water the wrong way and cabinet went into isolation and the dail was suspended pending a test.

A class of kids with a teacher who is actually positive for the disease (who probably had multiple close encounters with students over a period of days) are told they are not close contacts don’t worry.

    Not really consistent is it?

If they were contacts they’d be tested. You’d wanna calm down, you’re getting yourself worked up for no reason.

Yeah you are always right. Nothing to see here, move on. Like when you said there won’t be a second wave incoming. Felt so reassured when you said that months ago. Pity it was inaccurate.

I’m grand though thanks all things considered. enjoying my sunny Sunday. You should too.

UK government will now fine people up to 10k pounds if they do not self isolate when instructed to as per their system.

Are kids invisible? If kids share a classroom with an infected teacher, kids are contacts.

Its probably assessed on risk too, chances of a child getting sick from this are relatively tiny. Lot of older members of cabinet. I do get your point though, I can see why it would upset and confuse people.

Anti-corruption index rubbish is just that.
    Complete rubbish.

Go and learn about your own country & its history.

Objective measure is rubbish while your intellect is supreme.

I know about me country and it’s history and it’s problems past and present. I also know that it is currently one of the best places in the world to live, with problems but far better than most of the world. Those that complain about us being the most corrupt country don’t know what real corruption is.

And what about your baseless claim that old people were left to die in care homes? Most of those in care homes who got Covid recovered. Those who didn’t would not have gone to hospital for any other respiratory infection either. The humane way to treat the very old who get pneumonia is to make them as comfortable as possible and hope that they recover, not needlessly extend their lives through invasive medical interventions that likely will have no impact on their prospects of recovery

Crap that. One really big thing I hated with this. Fecking queues.

Thankfully queuing had all but disappeared in only very small shops now. Hopefully coming into the winter months this kind of nonsense won’t take root again.

Nobody can argue with this, should be fast tracked in here too. How can you fine someone on the dole 10k might be a bigger problem.

But the kids could possibly then bring it home and spread it, sick or not. Thats the problem

    1) Schools aren’t closing - some need to get that into their heads.
    2) If the kids were contacts, they would be feckin tested.

Again, people can raise concerns about what's happening in schools and not want them to close, you and many others here seem to struggle with this.

And as for questioning health teams, pupils are back in school as part of a COVID-19 response plan that contains the sentence "Remember that the virus is spread by droplets and is not airborne so physical separation is enough to reduce the risk of spread to others even if they are in the same room", I would think that as a parent this would not fill me with confidence

Totally support the teachers with any proposed strike action. I hope it leads to a safe working environment for them, and that their silence isn’t bought with some sort of a ‘danger money’ payment top up.

If there's a will there's a way. Take 50% from their social until its paid off. We need to start getting real.

2100 contact tests conducted associated with 96 cases in school Says otherwise.

If public health make the determination that measures in the school rule our contact tracing who are you to judge otherwise. Now if the teacher was not adhering to the guidelines that that judgement was based on, they should declare that when contact tracing is done.
