Well the Cabinet have now gone to self isolation.

Just a way of keeping the egg head quiet, and not have to say much. LOL.

NPHET in charge now, yee haa.

Acting CMO isolating too. Is there an Acting Acting CMO?

I thought Glynn was isolating too, who now runs NPHET, is Paul Reid still involved

How long do people on here think we will be wearing masks for? Another 6 months? 12?
    Genuine question
Or maybe there is no answer?

I think 12 to 18 months, a proven vaccine is available

Been off this thread for a few days and the numbers are horrendous if the aim is to keep them under control. R rate looks to be definitely well over 1. Reminds of UK in early days Hancock etc. going into isolation. Too good times. Very worrying as to the direction of this...

Your customer is right. Unfortunately we need to fear the virus. For thousands of years humans have feared illness and viruses for very good reason. Any notion of 'living with the virus' is akin to suggesting we live with an 8 foot lion in our sitting room.

So currently we can leave Dublin for any reason we like?

There will be further advise on Thursday, expecting dubs to be asked not to leave the county for two weeks similar to LOK

    Apparently not https://www.rte.ie/news/coronavirus/2020/0915/1165231-covid-19-plan/

Mid to late 2021, whenever vaccine has been widely given or community has largely gotten immunity

Schools go back, the number of new cases rise. It was to be expected.

Nonsense. There are thousands of schools nationwide in areas with virtually zero cases.

This virus is going nowhere. Our grandkids grandkids will learn about the great Covid pandemic of 2020 to 2022 and how it was actually caused by one of the viruses that causes the common cold.

And you propose a blanket lockdown of the economy for the next four to six months? That makes a lot of sense.

I do propose it. We're already hundreds of billions in debt already. What difference does a bit more make in the long run?

We only have 537 ICU beds.

Its pathetic how few we have.

Interestingly some of the poorer country in Europe like Romania are up at the higher end.

Not when you rate it against the young population that we have. A lot of those with higher numbers have a much older average population.

Mad to think this is all kicking off again in Europe just as winter approaches,almost1000 COVID deaths in Europe in the last 48 hours, could that timing really just be coincidence or could it be a seasonal illness?

Spoke to my mum on Sunday. They still having 28 degrees and thats in central Europe not even Spain or anything. Unless the virus knows winter is coming then I didn't think so.

We're in a recession now so we're pretty f+cked. A depression is not what we need.

Are the TDs not in pods and bubbles? Or is it just school kids that dont need isolating.

Learn about it? They'll still be living with it. It'll probably have mutated by then too into who knows what

We've seen on this this thread before that if some posters don't personally like or agree with something, then theyre delighted when restrictions put a stop to it and fantasize about it never coming back. Not keen on big weddings myself, and it wouldn't be my choice (the only guests at our wedding were our daughter and my parents lol) but I wouldn't be happy that anyone had theirs affected by this. The friends are better off without people like that there "celebrating" with them anyway.

There's been a few people who have posted about hating pubs, but in real terms that has been fck all: four or five max.

And it's boards: no matter how crackers the opinion ther'll always be a couple of people who agree with it. Likewise with people posting about weddings and Christmas, some people, but only a few people, have posted about how they are glad they may not have to deal with it. But they're not representative of the vast, vast majority of people who post on here.

People loving the fact that they don't have to do certain things that they don't feel too pushed about aren't a majority and it isn't the main reason people have for supporting restrictions. It's childish BS to claim that to be honest.

With all the measures being taken - social distancing, mandatory face-covering, provision of hand sanitiser - why are so many people in Dublin still being infected with the virus?

Measures in themselves achieve nothing. It's compliance to the measures that give results.

Tbh it's pretty much habit for me now so used to it. Weird how quickly you can get used to something. If it's that feck it, it's a mild inconvenience. Feel for any staff who have to wear it for hours at a time though.

I think sort of looking at Dail but can share chamber. Donnelly was in few meetings in person lately so maybe they were being extra cautious. Hopefully it's negative result for him and Ryan. As much as I disagree with them wouldn't wish this nasty illness on anyone.

we decided that instead of fighting all the time we should put our heads together and really try to solve this thing

    we've made massive progress!

As Hannibal says I love it when a plan comes together

    So what is the plan

Learn about it? They'll still be living with it. It'll probably have mutated by then too into who knows what

If it mutates, it'll likely mutate to more infectious but less deadly anyway, evolution wise. Stay alive by keeping the host alive.

I could be wrong, but I'm no more qualified than you to make such claims. Hopefully I'm right.
