I've got a customer in work who doesn't even say hello anymore, just says our latest case count and tells me my mask is useless because it's not medical grade etc. and we're all going to be infected with this, that we're going to be Italy 2.0 at this stage.

This isn't living with the virus. It's living in fear of a virus that isn't going anywhere, and for the majority of people at the moment, makes them asymptomatic. For anyone who isn't at high risk or elderly, it will more than likely be okay.

I don’t think we know that for certain though? Just that it was cleared to resume by the safety board. The risk may be so low that it doesn’t materially increase the risk of the condition occurring in the absence of the vaccine

Your customer is right. Unfortunately we need to fear the virus. For thousands of years humans have feared illness and viruses for very good reason. Any notion of 'living with the virus' is akin to suggesting we live with an 8 foot lion in our sitting room.
